Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Monday removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines and pledged to replace them with his own picks.

The 17-member Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices had been in a state of flux since Kennedy took over. Its first meeting this year had been delayed when the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services abruptly postponed its February meeting.

In 2019 I asked my doctor about boosting all of my vaccinations and adding a few extra because of my work travel. He asked if I was traveling to a third world country. I said, “Yes, the United States.” He boosted my MMR and DTAP and added Hep-A and - B and yellow fever.

Let me guess which experts will get hired in their places

One will be a 22 years old gardener with 4 years of extensive research on vaccines on various forums

Another one will be someone with a master’s degree in arts but with ten years experience on bashing against vaccines on sitter

Then there will be an high school dropout that became rich selling supplements on a website that is advocating using chlorine as eyedrop

Finally some stay at home mom with 5 years of experience selling essential oils, specialized in curing any kind of disease, even terminal cancer

What everyone in the US should do RIGHT NOW is get all the currently recommended vaccines for their age group and health conditions. There is a high probability that they will either become unavailable or not covered by insurance in the near future.

No kidding, do it now, and see that your family members do the same.

Nurse here: I have a hard time imagining vaccines won’t be covered by insurance unless federal law starts to prohibit it for some bonkers reason. Vaccines are the simplest and most effective prevention for a number of illnesses which can require expensive care. And they’re cheap. Vaccines are good for the bottom line. Like, they’re practically gold. If they didn’t make financial sense, insurance companies wouldn’t be covering them. It would be unfathomable for insurance companies to elect not to cover them unless they can also elect not to cover treatment for the resultant illness.

That said, I think the much more likely thing is RdumbFucK Jr. trying to make them unavailable, because clearly someone who has zero training in medicine or infectious disease or any science of any kind knows better than the collective consensus of the entire world’s medical community… So, get your vaccinations while you can.

They admitted they are not factual, and thus are not news.

More specifically there was a case where a Fox News “reporter” was asked to do a story on something and what they saw did not match the narrative at all, they refused to play along and were fired for not telling the story the network wanted to tell. They sued, and the argument from Fox was that only the shows literally called the news were news and had any need to be truthful, everything else is opinion or entertainment and thus could lie as much as they wanted. If you look at their current schedule, I’m pretty sure “news” is down to the 11PM Fox News @ Night, the closest anything else gets is being “geared towards” news.

the attack has been ongoing for decades, im also a milleneal. this is from a blue area. its underfunded, if they have to pass failing students there is a problem(participation grades has been occurring since the early 2000s. the interesting thing is this plays right into being fodder for military recruitment too. just near my area theres at least 2-3 different service recruiment stations(usually around malls) within a couple miles radius. 1-2 extremely close another highs school. they are almost never in or near wealthy areas. go a little outside of city, in another out of the waymall is another recruitment center.

they love to glorify the few gifted/4.0 students at our schools and neglecting everyone else.

money. no US based news even reported on the racist, insane shit Trump was saying. constantly. you’d be hard pressed to hear Trumps voice before the election in the US, Fox was running 24hr news reals of “dirty Mexicans are flooding over the boarder killing and raping white women everywhere in the US” just over and over again. social media was flooded with posts of “Biden and Harris are Pro-Israel here’s Israel killing children in gaza again” over and over. we had relatively low voter turn out, lot of very sudden voting changes right before the election, and Bezos, and Musk openly moving heaven and hell to support Trump. This is what capital wanted. a horrid, corrupt government that can be wielded with little effort.

Older American here, I remember the Before Times, so I can speak to how I’ve seen things change/crumble. Over the last twenty or so years everything has really accelerated. Social media is the biggest tool that outside and internal forces have used to destabilize democracy.

Democratic rule is terrible for business, people may make choices against your bottom line. On top of that, people like Iran, Russia, many others out there, want to crush America and never gave up their wars against us.

The KGB handbook details how to do what’s been done to the US in great detail, how to amplify and boost the most confusing, chaotic rage-bait from both sides of every contentious issue until people basically tune out and just go along with whatever the government says. Makes people not get involved in electoral politics anymore. They did this in other countries that they’ve absorbed/annexed or have created sympathetic populations within.

If it was just Russia we probably could have countered it and defended better against it, but you combine that with the efforts of many other cells, different nations and contracted organizations doing the same thing, then add dopamine-addicting social-media algorithms and a deeply sabotaged education system, carefully tweaked interest rates and health-care obstacles, so that people are forced to work 6-days a week and are barely able to afford anything and can’t spend any time learning or being curious, then a lot of very strategic messaging targeting specific portions of the population with racist, xenophobic ideas, and you have what we have now. A huge population held hostage by the smallest, dumbest, loudest segment.

And it’s coming for you next.

(Also, this was all done before AI could specifically target every individual’s most personal fears, desires and vulnerabilities, and could produce 100% convincing images and videos. We are all massively, thoroughly fucked.)

This can all be tied back to Fox News really.

This is what happens when you let a propaganda channel masquerade as news for 3 decades in your country with basically no pushback.

Just the fact that they haven’t somehow been sued into oblivion, or curtailed by the government at all lends legitimacy to them.

Why waste money on the poors?

It’s was her certainty in a fucked up belief set that makes her like RFK jr.

She allowed the sick to suffer and die because it was god’s will they should. She fed and housed the sick for her own salvation but made them suffer for theirs. What did not occur to her, is to actually treat those in her care, or separate the ones with communicable diseases, or offer palliative care or other relief. People died in squalid conditions while Mother Theresa was being feted by dictators and raking in millions.

So that’s why I compared RFK jr to her. They have certainty to their beliefs and they will not allow the evidence of their own eyes or those around shake that belief from them. And it is other people who suffer and die because of it.

It’s actually really frustrating that a plan of similar scope to undo all the damage and fortify our democracy hasn’t been released or at least hinted. It’s clear a huge portion of what were thought to be core components of how our government functions and maintains a balance of power were vulnerable to hostile actors and we need to patch these holes and harden our institutions against future attacks. Democrats need a project 2029 designed to protect against future project 2025 style attempts, assuming they get the chance

        • Aggressively indict, prosecute, and imprison the MAGA Nazis for their CRIMES (not their politics).

        • Criminalize MAGA as a seditious, terrorist, organized crime hate group, and prohibit it’s existence.

        • Review every elected official, and if they encouraged the Big Lie or the Insurrection in any way, they will be prohibited from holding office under the 14th Amendment, Section 3. Any future candidates who are found to have supported MAGA will also be prohibited from being on the ballot.

        • Give our Democracy a full rehab, including expanding the Supreme Court, impeaching Clarence Thomas for corruption, ending Gerrymandering, ending the Electoral College, etc.

        • Re-start the government, and start supervising the state governments of shithole states, starting with Medicare 4 All, Federal control of ALL elections, Federal control of public education, free or low-cost college or vocational tuition at any point in life, cancellation of all college loans, AGGRESSIVE taxation of Sociopathic Oligarchs and Transnational Corporations, Universal Basic Income, Controls and taxation of AI and Robotics that replace human workers, a tax on every stock transaction, etc.

So many governments in other countries rewrite their constitutions regularly to reflect the changing needs of their people. I know the likelihood is low, but a man can dream.

Yeah good luck with that… Are you suggesting we use the already established method of a Constitutional Convention to decide this new Constitution? If not, then how will the text of it be decided and by whom? If so, then how to you suggest we come to a consensus among all 50 states that will get them all to sign? If not, then how do we determine which states are a part of this new union, just the ones that happen to have non-Republican leadership at the time will able to be a part of it?

Even passing an amendment to the Constitution these days would be impossible, and if we did end up with an entirely new constitution, I’m concerned it would be even worse than what we have now due to the influence of corporations and just the general conservative idiocy of the people here…

Resulting proportionality would fix all of that, and guarantee that a minority party like the GOP never gets total power. But, that’s a bit of a pipe dream.

IF the Dems can take America back, and purge MAGA and the traitors from the government, we will have a short window that revisiting the Constitution will be possible, without having to worry about traitors having a say in it. Several of my suggestions would require Constitutional approval that doesn’t exist yet.

On the other hand, some of my proposals, like actually enforcing 14A/S3 are already in the Constitution, the Dems just need to play Hard Ball and deploy it. It’s there for a reason, and MAGA is the reason.

It is hard to change it and requires 3/4 of the states to vote for it. With the states divided hard along red/blue lines I don’t see it happening.

The United States Constitution can be amended through a two-step process outlined in Article V. First, an amendment must be proposed either by Congress (with a two-thirds vote in both houses) or by a convention called by Congress upon the request of two-thirds of the state legislatures. Second, the proposed amendment must be ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures or by state conventions.

Right, but that’s in the current environment. If you go back to my original comment a couple of levels up, I advocated for forcing out a large number of elected officials, under 14A/S3, which would give the Dems a short window of strong dominance where they could enact a very bold agenda that would put America, and the World, on a new path.

But we have to win this fight first, and we are behind on the scoreboard. Fortune favors the bold, and Dems, and patriotic Indies are going to have to go on aggressive offense in order to stand any chance of winning.

I want an investigation into corruption. Illegal contracts, Trump’s family and friends insider trading, etc, etc.

I don’t think we’ll see real change unless we amend the constitution. Right now the process is very difficult which is good and bad.

Yep, go through the record, and investigate every single crime, day by day, hour by hour. Indict them on every single charge, no plea deals, no mercy.

I’ve been thinking about something my college physics professor said. “The universe gravitates towards chaos and destruction. That’s why it takes orders of magnitude longer to create something useful than it is to destroy that same thing. It’s the story of all life everywhere.”

Project 2025 is dangerous not for the immediate effects but its long term effects. It will take years if not decades to restore faith in our vaccine board. Years to restore our faith in any sort of government action. Decades to restore our relationships with our allies.

Bearing in mind that we vote for our representatives every two years and we keep voting for people like Trump.

We are at a cross roads. We will either purge our country of the alt right or we will become the next authoritarian country.

The window to choose which direction is closing fast.

Example: It took a billion years to evolve the T Rex, and every single one of them was dead within 5 minutes of the meteor hitting.

Eh, 5 minutes is probably an exaggeration. Some (non avian, some avians made it to now 😉) dinosaur species may have made it into the very very very early Paleocene. T. rex probably did go extinct fast - obligate carnivore, less food, hot blooded, going to starve to death quickly. But it’s not as if the impact instantly killed everything. They might have made it a generation before they starved out.

I don’t know about that. The video simulations that I’ve seen of the big meteor strike all show the entire surface of the planet basically going molten within minutes. Those that survived were generally in the oceans or underground deep enough.

Whichever it is, the point remains - millions of years to evolve, gone in a cosmic flash

Avian dinosaurs (birds) and mammals survived on the surface. The entire surface of the earth did not turn molten, and there were many species that survived that were not “in the oceans or underground deep enough.”

It’s not that all animals were incinerated in the impact (although some certainly were) - it’s that it triggered volcanism, changes in ocean acidity, gas concentration in the atmosphere and other things that put pressures on most animals food sources.

Certainly a “cosmic flash” time wise, but it’s not the apocalyptic movie scene like at the end of V or beginning of Titan AE etc.

Its like how we are in a mass extinction event right now.

Extinction is usually a long and drawn out process. There can be delayed responses to changes in the natural environment that mean that the species is essentially bound to be extinct even thousands of years before it actually goes extinct. Steller’s sea cow is an interesting example. Humans certainly dealt the killing blow, but the species would have been doomed anyway.

This is what is very concerning in our current mass extinction. Ocean acidification is going to wipe out a lot of species. If you make the environment hostile to phytoplankton, you are reducing calories available in the ocean. Certain more harmful algae species might overproliferate in response to the new space to live in. Phytoplankton and different species of sea grass are huge oxygen producers - decreased oxygen production could possibly have long term effects on us.

Ecology is ridiculously complicated, and tugging on one thread in the web of life can cause an entire ecosystem to collapse through a delayed response. Things are rarely instant.

Shitcanned? Some of these people need to do hard time in prison. They are getting Americans and other civilians killed due to medical malpractice. Halting medical shipments to poor countries will accelerate various diseases like wildfire, which will spread worldwide due to air travel. Cutting food shipments will make people turn to bushmeat, a known vector for novel diseases that we have zero resistance to.

And disbanding vaccine scientists, health advisories and food/disease monitoring means American children, elderly, and immunocompromised shall die. Even healthy people will have unnecessary days where they are very sick, which will cause the economy to take a completely unnecessary hit. In an era where, let’s face it, the economy isn’t having many good days anyways.

I hope some people are keeping track of all this, to keep them ALL accountable, and put safeguards in place so that it won’t happen again. I also hope there will be something to build on next US election.

If people are ok with authoritarian regimes, let’s use that as an opportunity to strong hand transparency and trust into them. I was always against that stance, but the fucking shitfest we’re seeing there? Yeah, no more of that. Force laws that prevents unlimited power when you can instead of hoping the next madman will play “fair”.

The craziest part of this, is that they are catering to all the nutjobs that don’t believe in science.

Now they’re bringing in nutjobs that don’t believe in science to prove scientifically to those people that don’t believe in science that they can’t believe in anything.

God forbid we waste tax payers money.
