It’s not a “cloaca dispenser”, it doesn’t dispense cloacas. It is a “soda cloaca”, it has all sodas coming out the same hole.

FR, the lines on the top machine get hooked up to a metering pump whose intakes are

      A. Bag of “Soda” syrup which comes in a box

      B. Air Tank of Carbonation

      C. Water

The outlet hoses themselves are transparent so a lot of serious issues would be noticed and rectified, but in general stores don’t implement proper protocol to clean or change them out regularly. There is actually a couple of bacterial strains found almost exclusively in the lines, I’ve had the priviledge to examine them in person. They’re rarely very harmful but it’s kind of neat.

The actual machine people see usually only houses the refrigeration unit with the pumps and bags and tank on the other side of a wall or hidden under a counter.

That’s usually because the syrup to carbonated water ratio is different. But yeah I’m sure if you never clean the lines it won’t be as good. (Or if you have some weirdness where people are swapping the soda lines. Should be rare though, as you don’t want to swap which one says coke/sprite/w.e on the other end

For the bottom machine, run the faucet for a few seconds before you put your cup under it. Last thing anyone wants is half-watered down cherry coke or homeopathic fanta.

Just pick your poison and dispense for like 1 second into the tray. Yes it’s wasteful, but that’s their fault for making you have to flush the tube.

Yeah, says so right there in the brochure. “Video capability” AND it’s got bluetooth, which is a famously promiscuous protocol so if you’re anywhere near one of these things with BT enabled on your fone it’s fucking in your BT, seeing your status

edit: I bet it can even tag me driving by listening to Spotify on my earbuds. I can get a lot further from my phone than I’d be from the drink machine in who knows how many fast food spots before service drops.

That’s actually pretty terrifying now that I think about it and I’ve long been a fan of BT earbuds but damn, these drink machines and any number of unknown nodes could just be watching me drive around

Anyone with a spectrum analyzer can see people using their earbuds, they can’t deduce any useful information from that. Several analyzers? Yea, can triangulate signals, so what. They still can’t know for sure who they belong to, since BT doesn’t transmit identifying info unless you’re pairing (aka discoverable), and even then it can be randomized.

Also I posted in in a different comment but I’ll leave this here too.

I can get a lot further from my phone than I’d be from the drink machine in who knows how many fast food spots before service drops.

A typical fast food restaurant has dozens, if not hundreds of wifi and bt devices. Nothing surprising when your phone has to fight to get loud enough for your buds.

From a quick search, bluetooth classic has 79 channels, and if there’s 2.4Ghz Wifi in use, it has 14 in damn near the same frequency range.

If you’re worried about tracking - there are far easier ways to do that than hope your BT devices are discoverable and then try and match the (possibly randomized) device IDs to you.

Depends on the device, there was a story recently of a Nissan infotainment system that was perma-pairing as long as you had the options screen open afaik. If your earbuds are pairing close by, as is the machine - you can probably make some rudimentary motion tracking. Gonna be inaccurate as hell though, and it relies on both devices permanently being in pairing mode.

I can get a lot further from my phone than I’d be from the drink machine in who knows how many fast food spots before service drops.

This part though is way easier to explain with interference. A typical fast food restaurant has dozens, if not hundreds of wifi and bt devices. Nothing surprising when your phone has to fight to get loud enough for your buds.

That isn’t the one from the picture and I’ve never seen one of those in the wild. Not that they don’t exist, but the comment I replied to said “those” referring to the one in the image, which clearly doesn’t have a pinhole camera.

Not sure about that, but I did see numerous new Coca-Cola products in new flavors that I assume they put together by scraping metrics from these; and if I remember correctly they do have cellular interface.

Same as with any other? You pick one flavour first, and then another.

Many of them even let you choose one to mix with when you choose a flavour.

Surgical machines use it now it was revolutionary at the time

Because its just boxes of syrups that come through dirty hoses no one cleans from a closet in the back that’s filled with roaches. Also depends if someone swaps the syrup box to a new box when it runs out or it just tastes like soda water

Yeah but the people at the theatre don’t replace the concentrate pouches when they are running low so you still end up with diluted garbage that is mostly just plain soda water
