Up! Up! Coles’ annual profits are up to $1.1 billion.

And to think the Reserve Bank still acts as though inflation and the cost of living crisis is due to wages (below the rate of inflation) or consumer spending, rather than corporate profiteering.

I don’t know anything from experience but be careful. I heard that in America places like Target will literally wait and let you ‘get away with it’ until it reaches some cumulative amount where they can charge you with a felony.

Most supermarkets in Australia now have cameras everywhere with some type of generative AI technology in place to help locate and identify shoplifters.

My self-checkout called over a supervisor because I hadn’t scanned an item that was in the trolley.

Said item was my child, so the staff had to explain to the self-checkout to chill.

Fuck Colesworth. Having a disability and requiring both generic brands and delivery makes it hard to have other options… but don’t think I haven’t noticed the gouging, or how toothless the recent trust busting measures were.

Yeah, same. When I can, I go to Aldi, but I often can’t and am stuck with a Woolworths. Total bullshit.

Yes, well, if we mention corporate profiteering then the deafening silence on that particular issue may become more apparent.

Love seeing all the extra security features in Coles and Woolies. It makes me almost forget who the actual thieves are…

In the same breath they tell us their profits arent unusual but also really good for shareholders

I see people walk out of the supermarket without paying constantly.

They just walk out with carry-baskets full of stuff, the staff call them out and they just keep walking with no consequences! They don’t even return the baskets!

Meanwhile, us honest people at the self-checkouts get treated like a criminal if we want to purchase something that is too light for the scales to register and are treated like social deviants if we don’t want to use a loyalty card.
