How America Lost Control of the Bird Flu, Setting the Stage for Another Pandemic - KFF Health News
kffhealthnews.org
external-link
Exclusive reporting reveals how the United States lost track of a virus that could cause the next pandemic. Problems like the sluggish pace of federal action, a deference to industry, and neglect for the safety of low-wage workers put the country at risk of another health emergency.

The 1918 “SpanishFlu” (though it’s believed to have crossed over in Kansas) was bird flu, if you want a preview of what could be coming.

If you want to get scared, read what Michael Lewis has to say about the quality of public health in the US, as exposed by how poorly it reacted at a rank-and-file level to Covid-19.

Has anyone else noticed there are not eggs in the stores? I’m willing to bet this is because of bird flu. If you still have them, it’s not because you’re safe, it’s because your local authorities are not looking for it.

I just paid $6. It’s ridiculous. Good thing we elected trump. I’m sure bringing down the cost of eggs is priority #1 for him. I mean the guy said it in his campaign. He certainly doesn’t seem like the type to lie.

How could you not believe a guy like that? He’s a down to earth people person just like us and telling it like it is! He’s out there grabbing life by the…horns, I think he said? And he’s obviously very bigly smart by surrounding himself with people like the richest guy on the planet. You can’t get that rich if you’re an idiot, otherwise we’d all be loaded! Can’t wait for those $10 dollar eggs. I’ll bet they even taste better, if only because I can only afford to eat them as often as steak.

Damn, I still have like 6 eggs left. I should hit the resale market before they go off. Let’s say 6 for 6.

And a functioning state government. California actually has some decent unemployment insurance, which was nice when I was laid off earlier this year. Got a job now that’s even better, so there’s that as well.

All we can hope for is a repeat of last time but only in one aspect. It kills more Republicans than science and health believers.
