I feel odd because there’s no crisis to fix, no fight for survival.

I’m wired to be constantly on alert or pushing through another issue.

But now it’s quiet. And I don’t know what to do.

    It’s an odd feeling.

    Goodnight ❤️

Maybe it’s that I can actually choose what to do with my life instead of constantly reacting to threats and living in a kind of long term survival mindset.

It’s feel weird to have a choice.

This is why I like the beach I go to.

I am far away from cars and there are few people. I might hear a boat or a far away train whistle. But otherwise it’s just the water, the wind and birds. It’s quiet. 🫥

Going to see Wicked For Good tomorrow, so I am of course making an ✨ event ✨ of it, included themed nails and probably sparkly eyeshadow. It’s what got me through this week.

It was last year - I bought it for my best friend and my sister bought it for me! I like that it leans green and black, very well done. Wish I’d seen other colours in the range!

I ate cabbage. The man gets in the car yabbering on. Me thinking wait for it, wait for it. He stops mid sentence gasping for air, winding the window down like his life depends on it. Me laughing so hard I nearly wet myself. It’s has been a great day indeed.

You know that adage about “if you can get it past three years, you can’t kill it?”

They weren’t fucking kidding. I had one that i’d grown from seed, eventually it got so big we had to ground plant it. Of course, ten years later, Cunt Landlord. His lordship didn’t want to leave it so we were gonna transplant, but FIL got trigger happy, started on it himself and sheared straight through the tap root. Still, we sighed, persevered, repotted in native soil, cross fingered and moved.

Of course it died…or did it? A year later I go around to finally clear out that pot and lazarus seedlings. Not the first time that tree did it either, a bad drought “killed” it ages ago and it came back.

Turn on Windows computer for the first time in a while… game won’t open and the computer has high usage doing nothing. Go to open Windows Defender and it’s now linked to my Microsoft account, and trying to make me buy a Windows Defender subscription (and not doing a scan when I click ‘no thanks’). That’s dirty.

I found a different way and am scanning now but Microsoft get slimier and scammier by the day.

Today at the beach I found a mop of either squid or octopus eggs, the ovules are 5 cm long and joined together in the middle. There were no little animals in them that I could see.

Got down the bellarine last night. Fell asleep and missed geelong station again and woke up at marshall lol. 3rd time now. The chairs are too comfy.

But geelong station at 9pm is interesting. Only 2 arrests over an hour while waiting for the bus, no idea what for. Average wed. night I guess. Stupid place to pull shit as the copshop is right next door. Literally walked out the station, nabbed them and walked back.

But fuck it’s good to have some alone time. Walking here from the bus stop (15min walk) in almost pitch black, no noise except the surf in the background was bliss. Reminded me of when I was kid (13/14) punching cones in the dunes w/ mates and walking back in the wee smalls. Brought back memories. p’s were strictish back in melbs but down here nothing mattered. No questions, no curfew. thinking back pretty lucky w/ that absolute freedom at that age here.

Can we trade seeds sometime, I’ve finally got purple poppies after years of failing to get them to germinate.

It’s just too much lol. Can’t wait to get rid of them tbh although it’s not my decision to make. Suppose I’ll wait until they’re full tilt.

If it were me I’d do a veggie / herb thing.

The good news is they’re probably annuals. My ones are. But the California poppies I planted are prolific self seeders, so if that’s what you have you might need to sneakily pull any new ones up

More nasturtium flowers have popped, three full blown now and one more budding. The alyssum have started blooming. Hopefully I see more butterflies.

I regret choosing such low maintenance plants though. It made sense. The pumpkins would honestly have been way too much work. But at least when I have plants to care for it’s another thing that occupies my mind and pulls it back into the real world, rather than being so much on the internet.

I feel like (outside of little pockets like here) the internet is just becoming weirder and meaner.

Yes kangaroo paw is perennial, and doesn’t like being transplanted much. Best planted in a big pot so it’s roots can go deep down like it’s supposed to. Drought hardy once established.

Also, nasturtium flowers and buds are edible - quite a nice tangy taste and so pretty in a salad. The very young buds can be pickled and taste like capers. Leaves not edible tho.

It’s a real shame I can’t start a little native garden in the bare patch with a small birdbath in the middle.

But random destructive people can’t seem to stop themselves trespassing or keep their hands to themselves.
