Trump told Republicans not to “waste” their time on extending the enhanced ACA subsidies set to expire, saying he’d only support “sending the money directly back to the people.”

Republicans are careening to a health care cliff with no solution in hand. An estimated 22 million people in the U.S. are about to see their health insurance premiums soar by, in some cases, thousands of dollars per month, as billions in funding for the Affordable Care Act expires on Dec. 31. The expiring funds, costing about $35 billion per year, were first passed during the pandemic to subsidize insurance payments, capping premiums for a “benchmark” ACA, or “Obamacare,” plan to 8.5% of income.

It really makes you wonder if he would have considered extending it if they had offered to simply rename it Trump care

Remember when Republicans shut down the government for 43 days, specifically to prevent Democrats from saving these subsidies? And then the Democrats caved for no reason and got nothing? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

schumer specifically, hes the one orchestrated it behind the scenes, he only was against it publically, because looks bad in optics. he holds all the cards in funding senate campagins, he has as power as mitch did with the gop. hes more or less the DINO(GOP-LITE) version of mitch.

I wouldn’t be surprised if what the Dems got was certain names redacted from the about-to-be-released Epstein files in exchange for ending the shutdown

So glad we gave him everything he wanted so now we have no leverage at all. Another masterful play by Chuck Schumer.

he probably knows the other 13 dems that wasnt chosen to end the shutdown would be harmed by thier seats, thats why he went with the 8 that either is retiring or not up for election.

Why do people keep assuming Chuck Schumer is some master tactician when literally all we’ve ever seen from him is failure after failure?

he does hold the key to thier delegates and funding, hes pretty much like how mitch uses his position to force the gop to his will.

Americans clearly need to touch the stove and get burned before they understand what they’ve unleashed. It’s regrettable but saving them from the consequences of their political decisions might be worse in the long term. We’re at this horrendous point where things will have to get worse before they have a chance of getting better.

I’m actually of the opinion that Americans are stupidly selfish because they’ve never had to go through the unifying thread of war and mass destruction on their country. They’ve never endured a community/county level hardship. The Pandemic was close but even then it wasn’t the visceral, visible destruction.

also the protests have largely died down in thier messaging, and were not very effective to be honest, since republicans dont protests it only is for democratic voting to reaffirm whats wrong.

Who would have ever guessed that the hypocrite lying liars that always lie would ever lie about such a thing!? Well I never!

I’m so glad our representatives aren’t the absolute peak of naive and gullible of all people in existence. It would really suck to be depending on insanely naive and pathetic people.
