Even as he cast ballots by mail himself and launched messaging campaigns encouraging his supporters to do the same, Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to eliminate mail-in voting altogether, baselessly casting doubt on the legitimacy of mail-in votes.

Now he appears to be calling for the end of all forms of early voting.

After publicly demanding the prosecution of his political enemies, Trump encouraged the Department of Justice to investigate the outcome of the 2020 presidential election with “gusto” — and signaled that the “biggest SCANDAL in American history” will “happen again” unless the government eliminates early voting.

My fear is to is to have a single day election they could use national guard or something on blue counties to make it much harder to vote, like make special operations on the day of election and create grid locks on that counties.

They also want people to only be able to vote on Dominion voting machines, which are coincidentally owned and controlled by a Republican donor/operative.

So rest assured, no tomfoolery there.

A bunch of people who will be voting against him are working class, and the insane US system is rigged against the working class so much, people can’t get a time off of their jobs to go vote.

No early voting! No late voting! No mail-in voting! No black voting! No gay voting! No brown voting! No veterans voting!

Fuck it, only JD Vance votes! Unless he votes for himself, and then it’s massive voter fraud!

And many/most Republicans. Gerrymandering, limited voting areas, and intimidation at the poll are standard tactics to try and reduce people who might vote against them.

To be fair, Democrats have gerrymandered in history as well. District lines should be an independent determination, not by who is currently in control of a state government.

          That’s called Canada.

We also let criminals vote, and even set up polls inside prison for them because they’re (mostly) still citizens.

GOP gerrymandering is so severe to the point it eclipses dem states, plus they have numbers on thier side, the amount of states going to gop outstrips blue ones(also for senator positions)

Traditionally, the wisdom has been that non-voters lean left, so increasing turnout overall tended to benefit Dems. At least one Pew Research poll found that people who were eligible to vote but didn’t were slightly more likely to have voted for Trump (44%) than Harris (40%).

That said, yes, what we need is for Dem voters to definitely vote! (not sarcasm)

Making Election Day a federal holiday makes so much sense. This is one example of the U.S. being ran by clown the entire time.

Honestly I never understood the push for this. Maybe it’s because I grew up around people who never had federal holidays off. Tons of people still need to work on federal holidays. What makes way more sense to me would be not having a single “Election Day.” Make it Election Week, everywhere, all the time.

That’s also a good idea. However, election week equals more workers. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider.

          Overall options to consider:

          • Election week
          • Federal holiday
          • mail-in-ballots

            All of the above.

Colorado has early voting, mail-in voting, and places to drop off your filled-out ballot.

            It’s absolutely beautiful.

If you want to stand in-line the day of, you can do that, too. I’ve done that a few times, many years ago, and I think my longest wait was maybe 15 minutes, but that was out in the burbs, too.

In Canada, your employer must give you 5 hours to go vote on election day. So in most cases, you either start work after 12pm or finish before 4pm. They could also give you 5 hours mid-day, but that’s just tedious and not worth the trouble in most cases.

Its one of the oversites in the constitution in my opinion. It should have stated that all federal elections are federal holidays and congress is empowered to determine additional ones or something like that.

California has very good tools for tracking the status of your ballots. The USPS is also independently funded as a Constitutionally guaranteed service, so it’s relatively safe.

The reason they want to end mail-in and early voting is because it allows them to restrict access, intimidate voters, tamper with equipment, lose ballots, and all manner of other crimes. All voting should be done by mail as it limits their opportunities for engaging in fraud and crime. There is a reason they have been attacking it.

Safe? They’ve been destroying mail machines and slowing service. It’s a “they have already and continue to do” not they might.

Mail in voting allows them to lose ballots. Often even more readily than in person because it doesn’t require election officials being in on it.

Voting by mail is not somehow magically more secure than voting in person.
