Sounds like an issue on your end, not on DP’s end. You can 100% just plug in a DP cable into a powered-on computer and have it work instantly.

Linux@lemmy.ml•TempleOS won't comply with the new BS age verifcation laws
30·14 days agoTempleOS would fall under the laws
So would DOS and Windows 95, but those haven’t had any updates in a couple years. Surely they’ll be updated to comply.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Let’s Talk About Trump’s Shoe Thing | A long list of questions about the president’s gift giving.English
15·18 days agoI think Trump can’t imagine why anyone else wouldn’t think exactly like him. That’s why he serves McDonald’s to White House guests and he gives out gifts that he likes, even when it otherwise makes no sense. It’s also why he accuses everyone of things that he would do, like lying, cheating, and taking credit for things that he never did. Also stealing elections.

Technology@lemmy.world•GrapheneOS calls on privacy focused app developers to boycott European Unified AttestationEnglish
10·20 days agoGOS’s argument over the attestation is that it’s essentially the same as Google’s system. It approves the devices themselves regardless of their security. An approved device isn’t more secure in any way just because it’s on the list. It’s just a way of arbitrarily excluding any OS that they don’t like while still allowing devices that are obsolete or behind on security updates.

3·24 days agoYou can always make your own. You just need a spoonful to start the culture, and then you can just keep using the leftover from the last batch to start the next one. All it takes is milk.
It has neither the positive reputation you assume
This is true. Quebec French is often looked down on by other native French speakers. It’s seen as a rougher version of the language, mostly due to its accent and different pronunciations, and often Quebecois’ simplified vocabulary compared to the French. But what the previous comment was about is that Quebec French is closer to what French sounded like a couple centuries ago, and the language in France has shifted in a different way.
nor do Quebecois say “le stationnement”.
Yes we do.
Quebec has a problem with English in particular as it is seen as overtaking its culture. As such, a lot of English words that the French have directly adopted are instead translated into Frencher versions of the words. Stationnement vs parking is one example, magasinage vs shopping is another.

4·25 days agoYes the word for cat is “chat” but the word for chat, in the online sense is also “chat” and it’s pronounced like the English word. It should also be capitalised because it’s a proper noun, eliminating the ambiguity that may exist.

5·2 months agoThere was this Olympic sprinter who went to her kid’s school for one of those parent-child events, and the race was just ridiculous levels of skewed. There’s a video of it, and I think it made the rounds as a lighthearted piece on some news sites.
Have you ever cleaned out a lint trap? All that lint used to be part of the clothes.

Which is fair in most contexts, but when you’re in an Australian community, it’s safe to assume that AUD is the default.
