Thanks team. I have come down from that panic. Had a little catch up with workmates and we have some plans for the next week to help with workload and I am not actively panicking now. Thanks for being a safe place to scream. ♥️♥️

Dealing with two miserable kids to then have to be like, “Okay, time to go to work.” I felt like I needed a sit down and some Time On Phone after everything in the morning.

2025 is Googling minor health questions (about vitamins or whatever) and skipping over any US government-funded advice because it can’t be trusted any more.

Landlord is installing split system in every room next week. Summer will suck a lot less.

Also I’m done with vaping this time for real lol. Almost out of juice and it’s all going in the bin. I don’t want to be smoking by my birthday in 3 weeks.

I recently received a $60 credit from The Good Guys after an ACCC ruling (they’d had a promotion with some dodgy terms). I decided to get a new toaster, and fortuititously the toaster and delivery came to exactly $60. Can’t complain about an unexpected free toaster.

This is a supplement that contains cranberry extract and probiotics to accompany the antibiotic treatment and help relieve symptoms

    Well. That’s interesting.

The lock on my mailbox is gone.

I’m reasonably certain nothing of value or interest was taken - it was empty when I left this morning, and I don’t get THAT much post - but the local ferals are getting bold

Anyone got any go to meditations/music/actions for dealing with panic attacks? My go tos are not working.

    Title

Am having a really bad mental health day today. Have a bunch of things at home and work that are just overwhelming me and had to deal with snappy mcsnappheads this morning venting and correcting me while I was trying to do a simple handover to another staff member. Really fighting the urge to go and hide literally and figuratively. Come on brain. Just do something.

Can’t face doing the GP and psych referral dance. I am hoping this is all externally caused and will pass. Just feeling very alone and panicked.

No I can’t escalate the work stuff…I am where the buck stops for this particular stuff. I am just so sick of being a grown up.

Sometimes brain is stuck and needs a little rest. Maybe walk around the block once?

I use an app called Insight Timer. There are guided meditations and you can choose by the time you have available. There’s plenty available on the free side of it, you don’t need to purchase anything. Do you have access to an EAP?

I actually did a breathing exercise on there just before.

No no EAP. Should look into suggesting we get one though

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time.

There’s an album called () by a band called Sigur ros You’ll know it’s the right one if all the tracks are called untitled 1, 2 etc.

Always helps when I’m feeling bad.

I heard that you can tighten all of your muscles really hard and relax a couple of times to release the fight or flight.

      Brisk exercise.

Allowing yourself to shake and tremble.

Dipping or splashing your face with cold water for the diving reflex.

      There’s deep abdominal breathing.

Breathing into a bag didn’t do much but get that Centaurworld song tauntingly stuck in my head

Or even holding your breath until it subsides (something about carbon dioxide balance in your bloodstream)

I also heard antihistamines such as Benadryl can be used to calm you.

You can try chamomile tea made with two bags or valerian pills from the supermarket I guess. Or magnesium. Rescue remedy.

There are also options like beta blockers.

      YMMV

Not much of that works for me to be honest.

Usually if it’s a bad one I get in a hot shower, take prescribed medication and/or suffer through it. Maybe calling a friend if they’re free or a hotline. Try and get the regular professional appointment sooner.

When and if you can - I strongly suggest seeing a gp for valium and maybe a psych referral when and if you can face it, and getting tf out of the environment causing it or at least taking leave if possible.

Right now I suggest getting somewhere people leave you alone and maybe put something soothing in the background or call Lifeline.

Thanks. Saved that list to use when I need to pick something in a hurry again. I get panic attacks really rarely. I am trying a few old trick right now and will get to the doctor if I can’t get through this patch.

Tomorrow I start my new PT routine. 🤞 Hope it goes well. It’s just 4 exercises to help make my spine more stable and strengthen my legs.

Good night everyone and sweet dreams. 😗

One of my goals for this year was to run 5k and build 5kg of muscle to help with my low muscle tone and improve my physical and mental health. It’s been very slow going, and I’m finding it hard to become motivated to do the things. I know motivation is bullshit when it comes to this kind of stuff. Got my Fitbit to work again, so I might start wearing it for a bit of a boost. I want to be able to move my body for as long as I can. Even though I’m really uncoordinated, I can still move!

Even if you don’t leave the house or get out of bed you can still do leg extensions with a resistance band for your butt and abs.

I’m probably not going to though -_-

You’d be surprised. It took two years of regular effort but there was eventually something there.

Then came the pandemic and intensified health issues and I lost it all.

You can also do glute bridges or heel slides (no band) without getting out of bed but I don’t wanna.

              Edit:

              https://youtu.be/6-anByqnKp8

If you’re out of condition or there’s the risk of hurting your back try single heel slides first rather than double. This will help support and stabilise your lower back rather than abruptly jerking both legs up at once and potentially pulling an abdominal muscle or spasmodically arching your back. It also can help isolate the muscles more.

Either way just make sure your abs are very slightly tensed and your tailbone is comfortably dropped down so your back is flat on the mat or the bed.

If the flat legs are hard, it’s tiring to tense or your lower back is twinging you can bend the non-working leg and put your foot flat on the bed for more stability.

Up early again, it’s becoming a habit.

From the 2nd story kitchen window I look at the train to the city go by, 5.04 and it already has some passengers on their way to work. The train coming the other way has workers going home.
