Poured myself a nice lil drink in my special wine glass (a present from my sister who died a few years ago)… popped it down and sat down to watch our team run out in the NRLW. Second half…and caught it with my hand and smashed it all over the floor.
I know it’s just stuff but am currently devestated. Fuck you grief it’s been 10 years and now I am in tears because I’ll never get another gift from her. Or watch another footy game with her. Or anything.
Too many pieces for kintsugi but thanks for your suggestion. It was a pretty blue glass with a wave pattern and I think I will keep a shard and try to make a little art with it. 💚
Is it possible that Lemmit sleuths could find the same make and colour of wineglass?
It’s totally okay if that won’t work and doesn’t make up for the loss. I understand. The glass was irreplaceable.
It’s just physical gifts tend to be a lot more fragile than the bond with the giver and maybe even if the glass is different now the honouring of your sister is the same?
Think on it. If you decide you would like that I’m happy to try and help track it down.
I thought about that but this one was the thought. I have salvaged a couple of pieces and will think about what to do with them. Thank you. You are good people Melba.
That sucks. I’d look it at this way, atleast you used it and enjoyed and that’s better than in a cupboard where it didn’t get looked at. Still sucks though. Hugs 🫂

Fuck cancer.
I’m sorry, that’s awful! I wonder if it is worth saving the glass and doing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi
Or keep the largest shard and paint something meaningful on it, then displaying or framing it?
I’m sorry that happened 💜

🖤
oh no, always hard breaking something like that.
I’d have to say the studspud’s idea seems like a good one.

Yeah I know. I am a firm believer in using things you love. Thanks 🫂
It’s ok. It’s not just stuff. I get what you’re going through and it’s really painful. We’re here to listen.
The wineglass was the last physical gift you had from her but your love for her is forever.
(Edit: sorry if that’s invalidating, it’s meant to be a comforting thought)
Not invalidating at all. Thank you I needed that reminder. Hugs
I understand how you feel I have very little from my mother and when I broke one of her things it hurt.
I hope you feel better ❤️
Thanks. I think I was due for a big sob. Calmer now. Thanks for listening
Anytime :)
