You can count to 12 on one hand if you point your thumb to the bones on your other four fingers.

24 if you first do it with the knuckle of your thumb and switch to the tip after you’ve done every finger bone

Twice as many if you do it twice

Brother I can count to 100 on one hand if I keep switching the counting apparatus, but the point is that there are 12 distinct sections on the fingers.

Bonus points: this is part of the reason there was once a debate about swapping to base 12 instead of 10

Up to 31 in binary (1023 on both hands), but one may say it isn’t very handy.

You can count up to 242 on one hand if you are good enough and know base 3

1023 if you can count in base 4
