Yay, the world has returned to normal. I’ve been stuck at home making waffles and muffins and bread and biscuits with no one to tell about it.

Melbcat was on high alert. But instead of hiding like usual she stayed under the blanket with me, being held and soothed.

it did, at first I thought it might be a distant train or boat rumbling tooting but then I looked up from shell collecting and saw the storm on the horizon. I hurried home, 1 km away at that time, as it’s not good to be on a beach in a thunderstorm.

Depends which one I’m at. I recently discovered a love of axe throwing so if it’s a timezone with that I’ll pretty solidly hog that game lol. But I love the retro sideshow stuff and games where you get physical with it; most venues have got the bag toss, shoot the hoops, down the clown, skee-ball and that game that’s a bit like corn hole. Everything else just seems like tap tap games or gambling in disguise lol. I used to love claw machines about 30 years ago but now they’re just too shitty.

Claw machines here are so disappointed. The claw game halls in Japan are so fun. You can actually get things from the machines and they have different types of games. Last trip Boyo and I had to buy a duffle bag to bring our haul back, haha.

Nice going on the axe throwing though!! How fun!!

Another Meetup event. This time we went to an escape room, then kicked back in the common area of this guy’s apartment. It was very nice, the common area. It had a fuck ton of records, and I met this guy who knew his music. He had listened to pretty much every popular genre. It is rare to meet a fellow jazz, metal, pop and rock enjoyer who is also super short in my age group. Anyway, I got called a grandma because I’m a hunchback, which may have motivated me to get off my lazy butt and perhaps speak to the local gym about my shitty muscle tone.

Ended up walking through the CBD at night before it started pissing down with rain, and it was actually quite lovely. There was a nice breeze and lots of people out and about.

    ta da

the antique pictures ( 1870s) are restored as much as possible, I think they look pretty cool

I stained the frames with mahogany tinted oil twice, the wood was very dry and soaked it up, then two coats of dark brown hard wax to fill the open grain

I touched up the gesso gilding with some old gold paint

I gently bleached the prints to remove yellowing and get out as much of the damp stains as I could. The backing was very yellow so I couldn’t remove the prints at all without ruining them, so the warped backing card board had to stay.

and then I sent away for some special picture frame backing clips so I could secure the pictures in the frame.

the lighthouse is Gabo Island just off the coast of Victoria, the one with boats is Mount Michael off the coast of Wales, a place that Turner often painted
