They expect that if they repeat their lies often enough they’ll become reality but it’s not working because, like you said, they’re some real dumb shits

If the Dems had balls and cunning they would counterattack with “Yeah, we shut down the government. We don’t have control of the White House, Senate or Congress and yet have more power because we know how to govern”

I mean, GOP control the house, the senate, the White House.

They could 100% have passed this without democrat support. The chose not to.

They have to get a handful (5-7) of non-GOP votes in the Senate. That’s the source of the Dem’s only leverage right now.

Still, they flat-out refuse to negotiate at all, instead trying to strong-arm Dems into voting for a shit deal.

          No they don’t.

They can change the senate rules to end the filibuster if they wanted to.

They can do that at any time they want.

Doesn’t it take 60 votes to end the filibuster (because the vote to end it would first be subject to it)?

Nope. A permanent rule change, as it stands, sure.

But they can - and already have- used a simple majority vote to change cloture rules for specific votes., including things like trump’s presidential nominations.

There is no reason they can’t do that here, except they don’t want to.

Because right now Trump can just decide what is “essential” and what isn’t.

They’re just accelerating the totalitarian coup.

Lol, maybe the perception that Democrats can’t do anything is kind of working in their favor when they actually are doing something.

I’ll be surprised if it lasts longer than a week. Doubly so if democrats get anything out of it at all.
