    Doesn’t it take 60 votes to end the filibuster (because the vote to end it would first be subject to it)?

      Nope. A permanent rule change, as it stands, sure.

      But they can - and already have- used a simple majority vote to change cloture rules for specific votes., including things like trump’s presidential nominations.

      There is no reason they can’t do that here, except they don’t want to.

          Because right now Trump can just decide what is “essential” and what isn’t.

          They’re just accelerating the totalitarian coup.
