Off and away out of town again for the birthday of an old family friend. Not sure of the wisdom of being in Brisbane on the same day as the Lions in the final AND the Broncos playing a home semi in the NRL … At least I am getting really good at this travel malarkey again. I used to travel a lot in an old job but I had gotten rusty.

In 2016 I went to the Grand Final. My team was playing for the first time in the GF since I’d been alive but I wasn’t a member, basically impossible for general public to get a ticket. I saw a ticket advertised for sale at like 1pm on the day on a fan group on Facebook. It was about 20% more than the cost price. In hindsight, most people probably thought it was a fake but it was a physical ticket and paying in person outside the MCG, I thought that seemed safe. Got to my seat around midway through the first quarter, so missed all the pre-game stuff. But then my team won and it was just such an incredible atmosphere and great day. I won’t forget it.

Road trip day! And breaking out the glam tent. Hope it hasn’t gone funky since it’s last excursion.

The ballet has been watched and the hot pot meal devoured. May have had a bit much spicy for my tum, but we’ll see! All round an excellent day and traffic was EXCELLENT. Getting and out of the city was just about the easiest run I’ve had!

Okay full confession: I forgot there was no speaking/singing in ballet. I remembered 20 seconds into the performance but I definitely had “ohhhh yeah” moment.

We went to Panda Hot Pot and there’s an RMIT/public parking garage right behind it, so just parked there. Super easy!!

      What did you see?

How was the orchestration and how was the choreography?

      Was it a good show?

We saw Dracula! It was interesting! The music was a jukebox of classical pieces. The Brides, Dracula and the Wife were amazing, the Husband was great but a little wooden compared to the rest. Fantastic use of lighting and great set pieces. There was sadly less cape tossing than I was hoping for!

The crowd was amazing though, so many fantastic outfits.

At the hot pot place we saw a performance of face changing and it was so well done!

That sounds really interesting and modern. 👍

I think in the original story the husband is meant to be repressed.

That’s an interesting point!! It was more that he was very focused on the dance and when he was interacting with others you could tell he was paying attention to where his hands were. However he was still great to watch!

Had a bit of unfun morning with headache and upset gut. Seems to have mostly resolved now which is nice. I’m planning to refresh a couple of pots around the deck with some punnets of flower seedlings. A load of washing or two and then a lazy afternoon.

So today I managed 11,522 steps and most of that was done while watching the TV. I was determined to not sit idle so I grabbed some small hand weights and did some of the step exercises from the routines I’ve done that I don’t mind. I basically did that on and off all day, whenever I was in the lounge room and while watching the Grand Final. My kids are used to me doing odd things so they didn’t think anything of it lol. Also I don’t really want to become a calorie counter but I’m starting to learn how much exercise it takes to burn the kilojoules and it makes me more conscious of whether I’ll have that lamington/licorice allsorts or not. My clothes are starting to fit differently and I’m really pumped for that!

    Productive and relaxing day.

Grocery shopping and house cleaning done.

Quick nap, good Japanese restaurant for dinner

Few drinks, few puffs and the new Fantastic 4 movie at home with the family.

Seeing my wife and kids snuggled under blankets across the couches, fills me with immense joy.

Kids are almost adults but they’ll always be my babies.
