Teachers and employees of all sorts are being fired for the same. One teacher got fired for simply quoting Kirk’s now hilarious “acceptable deaths”. And earlier, Musk was pressuring the Microsoft CEO on Shitter to fire employees that are critical of Kirk.

    It’s a complete Uno reverse of 2015

Truly sad how many “respectable” companies are backing such an evil fascist racist zealot

I remember when comics were overtly anti-fascist.

Many of the characters’ entire personas are inextricably linked to anti-fascism.

Really depends on the writer. I know The Dark Knight Returns is beloved, but there’s the themes in it that I’m not so sure about.

My point was that it’s never been entirely one way or another. You can cite examples of aggressively progressive comic like X-men or the Superman-KKK comics, but the super hero format itself leans libertarian and if the writer isn’t careful, they end up supporting that or worse, a libertarian writer promotes those ideas while hiding behind the canon of super heroes. I’ve heard some batshit takes from otherwise progressive comicbook readers.

OK, but specifically back when comics were first coming out and becoming popular. I don’t think there were pro-fascist comics in the 60s in 70s, for one because a big chunk of their market were hippies. But maybe I’m wrong.

but the super hero format itself leans libertarian

You’re probably not wrong, which is why the ones that lean into it (like The Boys or Invincible) always seem more realistic.

At DC Comics, we place the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints.

Your actions say otherwise DC. You openly supported terrorism and hate speech when you decided to harm an employee who was a member of a vulnerable minority being actively terrorized. The level of evil and hurt you just subjected this employee to is unforgivable. I will never touch another product or property of yours again.

Shame on you, you evil, nazi accomplices.

So, the entire fucking mediasphere is suddenly bending the knee to right-wing bigotry? What the actual fuck is happening right now?

It was always projection. They don’t give a fuck about YOUR feeling, but they are the most sensitive of snowflakes on the planet.

If cancel culture was really a problem for them, they would have been screaming on Fox every night while Colin Kaepernick was being shunned by every NFL team.

They never were canceled. They did not like that free speech allowed for people to express that they suck, so they started whining without a basis

“Cancel culture” was never anything but right-wing projection. It is purely a propaganda term meant to demonize the practice of applying well-deserved consequences to bigoted and abusive behavior.

Retaliation against normal people for calling out hate isn’t “cancel culture;” it’s just more abuse.

“At DC Comics, we place the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints. Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC’s standards of conduct,” a DC spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

The lesson seems to be this:

Do like Charlie Kirk and start your own organization, because as long as you’re the one in charge, you can say whatever the living fuck horrible thing you want (Gretchen Felker-Martin didn’t even say anything really terrible compared to Kirk!), and since you’re the head of organization, no one can shut you down for what you have to say.

Here’s hoping Gretchen Felker-Martin starts her own comic book group and starts platforming people who aren’t going to put up with fucking fascist horseshit.

The trouble is, that only works when you’re spewing the kind of hateful and violent rhetoric that rich elites want to hear. There’s a firehose of money being aimed at fascist influencers.

In contrast, you don’t see nearly as many anti-fascist or egalitarian influencers because the economics don’t work: the people who support the message don’t have any fucking money.

Also she’s not an uncontroversial author. I’ve only read Manhunt from her and it’s unapologetic and rough. With how raw she writes she’s probably a great comic writer

Sounds like they were peacefully expressing their viewpoints.

Yes wouldn’t want to see violence being promoted by DC Comics. DC Comics are never violent clearly. It’s absurd to suggest otherwise. All DC heroes operate under the strictest tenants of pacifism.
