San Francisco author and activist Rebecca Solnit reported her account on Meta’s social media network was suspended in a post to Bluesky on Tuesday, June 10, adding that she was soon told the decision was permanent.

But less than 24 hours later, the account was reinstated after a Meta spokesperson said the suspension had been made in error.

On Tuesday, Solnit wrote, “Facebook decided to suspend my account because of a piece I wrote Monday about violence which in no way advocates for it (but does point out who is violent in the current ruckus).”

Facebook is a tool of the regime. It is an enemy-controlled platform. It cannot be effectively utilized for resistance. The only thing to do with it is to destroy it.

Or was just semi-famous in general. Some peon caught up in their shitty AI/shitty moderators wouldn’t generate news stories or have reach elsewhere. Certainly there are plenty of examples of just how bad FB moderation is, with reviews rarely fixing the problem.

That collaborators list is becoming quite large, but rest assured that billionaires will just quietly be ignored after this is all done. After all, billionaires can do whatever the fuck they want, and get away with it

Without realizing it, you’re thinking and talking exactly the way that the billionaire class hopes for.

The message that you’re actually delivering is:

        Resistance is futile. Be passive.

It’s a double edged sword though. If others in her age group are only using Facebook, and she is posting said information elsewhere then you’ve just created a massive group of people who didn’t leave Facebook because their views agreed with media on the site at the time they joined and now you have a mass group of people stuck in an echo chamber. Some some that may otherwise have differing views may just hear they are wrong 100 times and never want to speak up and just go with it because they think they are 1 in 100 people who believe differently.

That said, I left 4-5 years ago and I have only ever wanted an account once, when I was in PHX for work and wanted to find someone I knew from 15 years ago.
