In an unsurprising twist, general sales across the various markets are down even more than expected in the first quarter of 2025, which means consumers are either poorer and/or holding onto their money out of fear.

Coupled with what’s happening in the government, and we’re sprinting towards a general recession—potentially even worse in rural areas.

Part of me wants to say “good”.

I realize all the nuances and negative implications, but…I don’t know. Maybe America needs to be godsmacked a little.

Note: My thoughts change hourly on this so take this with a boulder of salt.

Lower-end cars keep getting more and more expensive in the USA, meanwhile they’re getting cheaper in some other countries due to competition from Chinese cars.

Those people should probably buy a used car before tariffs put those out of reach too.

But hey it’s not like you need a car to exist in America right?
