It costs zero dollars to say “it is what it is”
I had a really nice young woman knock at my door today. She gave me a really long winded non breaking sales pitch about a charity for the blind. She was asking for donations and just talking and talking about how important it was, how special it was and how good it was to help.
Then she threw in the sales wrap up … it just costs a dollar a day to contribute.
$365 a year? I offered $100 instead and then it led into another long sales pitch that there was no alternate option, it was just $1 a day.
I told her she was losing out on the hundred … she has instructions to just sign people up with their subscription model.
After half an hour of talking I told her I wasn’t interested.
At the end of it all … I really didn’t think it had anything to do with a charity.
And just think how much of that $365 is for her wages.
here in the US, we pay for health insurance, not healthcare – to stretch the metaphor, you’re not subscribing for hugs, you’re subscribing for a chance to claim a hug at some future date – if you qualify and you don’t have a pre-existing condition
*credit card required
*for qualifying applicants, terms and conditions apply
Unlimited hugs for $14.95 a month?
Well, I, uh… that sounds nice.
* up to unlimited hugs, terms and conditions apply, includes a fair use policy, power users may have additional fees applied
Hug providers may vary. Thank you for respecting the personal hygiene choices of our employees.
And to complete the metaphor, the bird steals your wallet after you hug it and reminds you you can cancel, once, 3 days before the payment period begins.
