Four months out from the state election, Premier Jacinta Allan is facing a leadership challenge.

Factional powerbrokers met on Sunday night to discuss whether Ms Allan maintains the support of the caucus, and agreed she does not.

It is understood Ms Allan will be offered the opportunity to resign on Monday, and if she refuses, is expected to face a leadership challenge on Tuesday.

I duno if I can agree, I think straight up it’s not looking good for her, considering how labor has done federally and in SA, to be neck and neck with one nation and the liberal party and have what appears to be the lowest approval rating in the country… it’s not a good sign

Labor have also been in power since 2014 which is generally when one party leading for so long starts to set in

Resolve Strategic is publishing monthly Victorian state poll results for The Age ahead of the election in November, padding out the sample in its regular national polling and inquiring about state as well as federal voting intention. The latest result finds Labor and the Coalition remaining tied on the primary vote, with both up a point by 27%, while One Nation are down two to 22% and the Greens are steady on 12%. Jess Wilson’s lead over Jacinta Allan on preferred premier shifts from 39-20 to 43-24. The poll was conducted last Tuesday to Saturday from a sample of 1000.

I think part of it is that weird Aussie “fair go” sentiment: “these guys have been in long enough, time for the other mob to have a crack” - before doing a quick 180 shortly thereafter, as soon as we realise what an absolute shit-show a Libs/ONP state gov’t would be.

I think it is a good thing.

As Premier,She has has completed some achievements in her time that will put the state back on track, but the opposition (not “The Opposition”, but the corporate interests interested in degression) have painted her as evil and destructive to the state.

A fresh face would be good for the party, and if they are able to make some less significant, but more visible achievements, Labor will be lined up for another landslide.

They just need to take the opposition’s propaganda and complete a few token achievements; if all they do are the fix the potholes, that would probably be enough.

And if she is made scapegoat, and they introduce someone else without any tenable links to CFMEU, with lots of charisma (she had none), who wasn’t allegedly having an affair with Lindsay Fox’s daughter, and fixes the potholes, Labor will have the next election in the bag.

The Coalition is still running backwards and ON doesn’t have any policy except to blame anyone who isn’t Anglo-CIS-male for all of society’s problems.
