went to beach, played with some dogs, talked to some folks, found not many shells :) not a problem
and then the big dog
a big dog heavy came running at me and rammed into me, ok, but owner said nothing
then dog went back to owner
then dog did it again, i hear my spine crunch
I yelled at owner, stop your dog,
"he’s just a 12 month puppy, i’m training him, he jumps up ( he did not jump up at all, he rammed )
( she didn’t train him at all, she said nothing to her dog )
I’m disabled ( and I am, I have to be careful of my back). Owner acted like she was the victim.
“so am I. don’t use that as an excuse”
i said, excuse for what?
she said, this is a dog beach, don’t come here
I walked away
one, she didn’t train or control her dog
two, it’s a local beach, only half the people there have dogs
three, there are lots of different people at the beach
there was an elderly woman on crutches with her dog at the beach 30 minutes earlier, would it have been her fault if she was injured by the uncontrolled dog?
or the mother who was there with a baby in a pram?
i’m pissed
this is the first time I’ve experienced that at the beach
NTA. That’s when it’s time to pull out your phone and take some photos. People’s whole attitude about this stuff changes once you start collecting evidence.
NTA. I have had many active working dogs over the years and sometimes they can be overly energetic when young and stuff up (just like kids). But I would always be there, apologise, get the dog under control and reinforce training. And I watch other people to gauge whether they are up for rambunctiousness (how are they walking, do they have a dog etc) and try to minimise harm before it happens.
Anecdotally I have noticed some terrible socialisation of dogs in the last few years and more and more dipshit owners.
Yes sometimes at a dog beach accidents happen. And yes you can and should expect people to be responsible. I hope your back is ok
Many years ago I may have been scared. My parents , particularly my mother, did not teach us about dogs, only to be wary. I had to teach myself and now I love dogs and am not scared at all.
once is an accident, twice is not caring and being irresponsible
I feel like such a karen but I looked up the dog beach laws and the dogs have to be under control at all times. My beef was with the owner , I could see the dog was good natured but just not controlled or trained well. Note I talked to the owner and held her responsible for her dog. I didn’t blame the dog at all, didn’t yell at the dog, dog was just being a dog. I said No is all.
gees, and I was playing with four dogs at once just 30 minutes before that. ( they were all adorable, especially the very fluffy one who had such short legs it made us laugh when she would run) I really love dogs
I see so many families at the beach. That dog could hurt people.
I’m thinking when the weather improves and it’s crowded every day other dog owners will start having a go at this dog owner and they will not put up with her darvo shit.
AITA

so my issue is with the owner

NTA. That’s an awful situation and that woman is an idiot. Her dog will continue to hurt people. I hate that this happened to you!

I had many large dogs as a kid. Biggest would be the Rottie x St Bernard people were scared, reality the most dangerous would be she sat on you

As a pup she looked like an Ewok. And I am still annoyed about her pissing on my alarm clock
But how could you be angry at an ewok 🥹
More I objected, was told totally would’t happen, and more or less forced to hand it over. Guess what?
thanks for validation

I hate that… one day someone is going to get seriously injured and sue her arse
The rule should be if you can’t control your dog, don’t take it off the leash. That’s why my dog is not leash free.
