genuine question - is this good? assuming horses are treated (fed/bathed/relaxed, etc) well, horse drawn carriage does not seem bad. It has cultural and historical significance, and horses are also kinda green ™
City officials justified the move not only as part of the updated commercial regulations but also on the grounds of animal welfare, arguing that horses working in heavy traffic suffer from stress and poor conditions.
If only there was some government entity with the power to do something to alleviate the heavy traffic?
The heavy traffic is probably a cause of stress and poor conditions for many living creatures in the area then, right?
yeah but then the officials would have to take the bus :'( You wouldnt want the poor little guys to ride with smelly poor people would you
No news good enough for you, huh?
The simple act of pulling a carriage is not inherently an animal welfare issue; horses were selectively bred for the purpose for quite a few generations. Because a city council doesn’t care to protect their tourist-attracting downtown core from dangerous levels of traffic, these horses and their owners are out of a job? Nobody’s mentioned where the horses are going. Could be a glue factory.
So I fail to see the “good news” part of this article with the information and context provided.
kinda with you partner.
humans have been breeding and raising horses longer than we have been keeping records (or even thought of keeping records, or got the ability to record).
The doom filter on my brain read “plague” and the rest of me said “fuuuuuuck”.
I guess if I want a romantic csrriage ride through Prague now, I’ll have to hire someone running a rickshaw. 😞
now lets do the same thing in vienna, it’s overdue
