I’m listening to Spare, the book by Harry whatsisname
he sounds like someone who has joined a cult, who has been told their family is awful and don’t love him, who has had his past rewritten to make it nothing but bad up til the moment he met his saviour and he has learned helplessness.
he was also a bit of dick growing up
it’s a good warning, don’t marry narcissists like meghan
i would really like to know how he thought about himself and his life before he met her
the book sucks except as an example of what not to do, I can only observe the events described , I find it hard to care or get involved
I’ve never read it but this has always been my thought. Harry has been told his whole life he must wear red socks on Wednesdays. Meghan tells him he’s an adult now and he can choose whatever coloured socks he wants. Harry thinks about it and agrees but up until that point every part of his life has been micromanaged by people who “know better” than him.
I haven’t read it. But I agree Megan seems like a narcissist. Of course marrying into the royal family means there will be many occasions where protocol must be followed. That’s the job. To pretend she didn’t know and was shocked is not believable to me. Harry was in love, and had his own long brewing grievances, so made the choice to leave. And that’s fine for him, if that’s what he needed to do. But I feel sorry for the kids, who are growing up with zero contact with their heritage. Parents have thrown a hissy fit, and taken their kids down with them. I wonder how they will feel about it as adults.

It honestly seems like the happiest he has ever been was in the army.
I think so too.
There were set rules, no one in his unit was out to get him, he learnt skills, he was treated as his own person, he had a purpose bigger than himself.

I’d run away too.
