Meanwhile ICE cars can last for 30 years, and so even if they don’t produce tailpipe pollution, and constant manufacturing and destruction of new cars probably of sets the benefits, specially in countries where electricity is generated from fossil sources (most countries).
EV batteries generally have warranties for less than 30% total battery degradation over a life of 8 years and 100,000 miles. Most people drive less than 50 miles on a normal day, so if they get a vehicle that initially has 250 miles of range, after 8 years they will still have 175 miles of range. Thats still over 3x their daily driving needs. That doesn’t necessitate a replacement. Few cars get driven past 300,000 miles before scrapping, so you most likely only need to replace the battery once. And don’t forget that battery costs are constantly going down.
