We’ll do BED in a pinch but anorexia nervosa or bulimia with significant weight loss is either stable enough to be managed outpatient or unstable enough that it needs either medical hospitalization or a specialized unit. I’ve worked one psych unit that could handle telemetry and they wouldn’t have liked having to.
Maybe this person has a food related disorder, like “apples are the only things I can eat” and eating a tomato thinking it’s an apple might help in a way ?
Doesn’t matter what it is; it’s edible, and the owner of that arm desperately needs to eat it.

While you’re at it take some bloods. Old mates risk of refeeding syndrome after the first bite.

I dunno, and I’m not judging, but having had people close to me suffer from eating disorders, that arm upsets me lol.
