The New South Wales Government’s gun buyback begins today, aiming to reduce the number of guns in the state. It comes in the aftermath of the shootings at Bondi in December 2025.
NSW Government statistics show that there are currently 1.16 million registered firearms in the state.
Australia-wide, gun numbers are now higher than before the Port Arthur massacre, which prompted the Howard Government’s gun buyback in the late 1990s.
be me, Australian Continent
have the deadliest animals in the world
wildlife doesn’t care if the government says something, they still gonna fuck you up regardless
government wants to prevent its citizens from being able to protect themselves from said wildlife
absolutely genius move, can’t wait to see what your government does next!
The fuck is a gun going to do for you if you step on a funnel web? Or get ambushed by a snake? Or stung by a jellyfish? The only animals down here that a gun could MAYBE help with is a crocodile. But they’ll just ambush you aswell.
@TheLunatickle
What a goose. None of the wildlife in Australia scares me half as much as imagining what it would be like if every bogan was packing a gun. Maybe Usians should take a look at how their gun death statistics are off the charts compared to the rest of the world and, you know, shut the fuck up.
@grillgameshwho said you’d need a gun for funnels?
nah mate. what you need… is this:

ein Flammenwerfer! Viel Spaß damit!
No one is forcing them to sell their weapons, but less guns in society correlates with fewer gun deaths. Every ‘good guy with a gun’ has a small chance of having a mental health crisis that results in a tragedy.
There isn’t much in the way of wildlife that guns will really help with. Apart from crocodiles, nothing here is going to try to eat you. And if a crocodile is in a position to have a go, it’s too late to use a gun.
