Eh, not super worried about fuel costs as a private citizen myself. €5 per 100 km vs €15 for 100 km makes zero difference compared to €1500 for a car vs €30000 for a car. Transport companies are different, they can’t afford to drive old depreciated luxury beaters like I do (because an old Audi or BMW is cheaper than an equivalently aged Toyota, but much nicer to drive). The trucks are usually driven for a few years before they’re sold to companies that are less averse to the risk of breakdowns and such. So they already have tons of capex, they can just increase it a bit to reduce their opex significantly, whereas I’d have to increase my capex a LOT to decrease my opex a bit.
