This feels more like it’s about the light bulb than the lamp.
Lamps tend to last a lot longer than light bulbs and, maybe I’m old school, but they tend not to have much of a circuit in them. In fact the bulb is what completes it and the lamp usually has a wire and a switch. That’s not going to break easily.
… and modern LED bulbs do tend to have some kind of logic circuit in them to regulate current, putting another score for the bulb theory.
It looks like the lamp is shining, but it’s actually the bulb.
It looks like the lamp is speaking, but it’s actually the bulb. But is literally starts with “I am a lamp”.
The bulb is its brain
Yeah and when you spend enough time staring at black light posters (to stay on theme), you realize the distinctions are much blurrier than you thought, man.
I hope this lamp has some comforting epiphanies when he learns that the powerplant providing his electricity is run by oxidizing carbon atoms whose oxidation state was reduced by the same sun that he admires.
It’s an imposter.
Yeah, I have a lamp that’s outlasted 2 LED bulbs to far.
My parents were kerosene lamps but my father ran out on us
My dad was a zippo. Ran out for cigs one day and never came back
There’s a picture opposite me Of my primitive ancestry Which stood on rocky shores And kept the beaches shipwreck-free Though I respect that a lot I’d be fired if that were my job After killing Jason off And countless screaming Argonauts
Damnit, now I love lamp.

Are you a moth?
No but if you know a good podiatrist let me know
I know a guy named Gregory Illinavich, does that help? He’s not a great boss though, really likes holding his power over his employees.
Silly lamp, the moon just reflects sunlight, you’re still admiring the Sun’s work!
All works are derivative
It ended up as a little too much of a rant, but im just having fun here

Im sorry, but that’s just not the reason you would give up on a lamp, unless you are using some weird new tech bullshit. A lamp is two wires (sometimes three), a special lightbulb socket, a switch (technically in my own experience optional, but I was being a bit stupid, fixed it tho) and thats it. Its more complicated for LEDs, but we got led lightbulbs already, everything that could break is within that. Ive went through a couple of lamps and the reason Ive thrown them out was in most cases the plastic casing breaking. Sometimes the electric isolation gets worn down exposing a live wire - you throw that out because that’s a health and fire hazard. Rarely there is a problem with the connectors, but in the one and only case Ive seen that makes the light dim, unstable, and emits a constant buzz. Obviously bad, technically functional. Overall a lamp is pretty much the very simplest house appliance youve got, and because of that the points of failure are limited
Once upon a time there was a meeting of minds.
The sun and the moon made a deal with the sky.
One would take the morning and the other the night
Together they would blanket the world with light.
But the moon has a shadow, he felt like a liar.
The sun was the only one who carried the fire.
The sun saw this, she kept on glowing.
Bound to the moon, never saying “you owe me”
She said I’ll shine on you.

I’ve got a secret to tell, from my electrical well
It’s a simple message
and I’m leaving out the whistles and bellsso the room must listen to me, filibuster vigilantly, my name is blue canary, one note spelled LITE
My story’s infinite
Like the Longines Symphonette,
it doesn’t rest
Really liked this one. Creative, smart, beautiful. Thanks for posting it.
I guess machines do Dream of Electric Sheep. Everybody has a dream.
Tree of life(wrong post apparently)He got his wish but unfortunately there’s nowhere he can be since he found Serenity…
