-Settlement set up since-abanoned ‘weaponization fund’ and sweeping tax protections

WASHINGTON, July 13 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Monday voided President Donald Trump’s settlement with the IRS that gave him ‌and his companies sweeping tax protections and initially set up a nearly $1.8 billion government fund to pay victims of so-called government weaponization that was later abandoned.

Miami-based U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams found that Trump and the IRS, which he oversees as president, were not truly adverse to each other as is required in civil lawsuits under the U.S. Constitution. Williams referred a Trump lawyer in the case, Alejandro Brito, and senior Justice Department officials who signed off on the settlement to state bar authorities to determine if their actions violated legal ethics rules.

Yes fucking finally. Start punishing the lawyers for this bullshit on top of killing the lawsuit. If word gets out that if you may get disbarred for attempting these bullshit lawsuits can hopefully stop this runaway train.

Maybe the fact that Trump fired everyone at the IRS that didn’t do as he wanted tipped the judge off??

That statement is trying to do some heavy lifting without context. To help, I’ll rewrite the paragraph this is contained in as one sentence:

Trump’s lawyers, who work for him, and the IRS’s lawyers, who work for him, were not adversaries, but worked together to ensure money went where he wanted it to go.

I’m seeing posts saying that the judge talked a lot, but didn’t really ban the slush fund. The MAGA propaganda is desperately trying to spin this as a secret win.

I believe part of the money (the part he didn’t steal) was to go to Jan 6 Traitors, and the other held in reserve to entice them to return after the 2028 election, to keep him in office. Except that one is going to get REALLY violent.
