It’s none of my biz and I hope I’m not being intrusive… but would it be an option to buy an electric hotplate and/or an electric frying pan that can switch off at the wall rather than use the stove?
And maybe buy a portable ‘travel’ carbon monoxide detector?
The idea of no safety valve on a gas stove is just haunting me.
(For context I still get para about mine with safety features and freak if I bump the dials. And I’ve had to handle an undetected gas leak before)
Thank you for your concern. I do already own a plug in induction plate. This was total human clumsiness, and not bad enough to set off the detectors, just our noses.
Shit! Came home from shopping to a house reeking of gas. Cats fine. That was way too close.
Holy shit. Glad you’re ok. Were the cats cooking something or just trying to kill you outright?
Oh shit! What happened?
Didn’t turn the stove off properly? And it’s old enough to not have the magic valve

All good, sorry. Gas is some shit that scares me
Damn. I’m glad it’s all ok. That’s quite scary
