The thing is he’s going to ruin his company in the longer term. So they’re not even really making money sustainably.

I know Toyota shit the bed on EVs, but is this their actual plan to move forward? Suck up to Trump and hope he favors you while punishing your competitors?

Toyota is behind everyone else on electric vehicles, so any politician that slows or stops EVs is a friend to Toyota.

Also, green policies favor the adoption of mass transit and other viable alternatives to driving, which is again a danger to Toyota’s bottom line.

Wow, he’s really not reading the country very well is he? 2020, that was a 50/50 move, piss off half the country, earn the support from half of it. (again just talking on a purely business strategy), unless the millitary is about to buy a shitload of toyota’s, I don’t see how this isn’t a horrific play.

I think the business strategy here is sucking up to a dictator who can decide on a whim that Toyota is now the only American car brand allowed to be American and sell American cars. Or that Toyota parts are exempt from tariffs. Or that Toyotas are subsidised with 300% ontop by tax payer money. Looking at the current situation I dont even think this is a bad decision from a purely capitalist viewpoint, but its cowardly as fuck.

No, it always would have been a net loss.
Toyota sells a lot internationally while basically 0% of the international customers see Trump or MAGA in a positive light…

They’re a Japanese brand known for cheap, reliable, sensible cars, do they expect loyalty from the Make America Great Again crowd?

I wouldnt be surprised if MAGAts buys more oversees than the average American. Their whole merch is made in Asia.

Buying overseas isn’t something kind of moral failure lmao bluMAGA. Who else but the skidoo dealership owner who drops 1K to fly to DC on J6 is paying 50K+ for a working class affect?

I just wish Mazda would release an electric version of the Mazda 3. They do produce some electric SUVs, but mostly for Asian markets. Not everyone wants an SUV though!

I’ll be sad when I’m finally forced to replace my Mazda 6. This all SUVs all the time nonsense needs to stop. I’m surprised they haven’t discontinued the Mazda 3 at this point.

Mazda 3 is an amazing car for sure. Or at least was when I last owned one.

I loved my 2012 Mazda 3. I sold it around eight months ago, and was sad to see it go. I checked in with the new owner a few months later to ensure everything was still going well.

I replaced it with a 2025 BMW i4, which is a fantastic electric car that just looks like a normal car, without any silly design gimmicks. Exactly what I was looking for. I don’t understand why so many EV manufacturers need to make them look so different to ICE cars.

Perhaps treat cars as a shitty but necessary tool that is used for moving you from point A to point B. And not a political thingie. There’s no reason to believe that the top bosses of any car company are great people. Most of them are just good at hiding their personality.
