    See those long A arms?

Unlike most “big dick trucks,” this has a decent looking suspension, widened stance and big tires (and small rims) of a prerunner. If this guy lives out in the desert, he likely has some fantastic fun with it.

If I’m not mistaken (and I could be), that’s a “small” base truck, like a Ranger or whatever the equivalent dodge is, as opposed to a hulking F150. These are better for building up like that because they aren’t so freaking big to start.

What I don’t particularly like are the lifts that are terrible off road, like feet off the ground to the point where they’re tippy, yet have no suspension travel and can’t even park.

The moss on the wood retaining wall say this isn’t near a warm/desert climate.

That said, it’s a RAM TRX. Great truck for dune jumping and pleasantly reliable. My only complaint with them is that it’s a whole lotta horse power for a truck whose tires limit it to 104. I love going fast in my fun cars, but the sacrifices Baja trucks (raptor and TRX) make are just pointless to me. Great resale values though.

I’m sorry, that seems like an implausibly large gap of knowledge for someone who can talk at detail about truck suspension configurations

Look, I like off-roaders! Right? Desert racing trucks are the coolest thing:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nR1-J676ao

And that includes solid axle/mixed variants like the rock crawling Ultra4 trucks!

            https://www.speedhunters.com/2019/02/if-a-trophy-truck-rock-crawler-had-a-baby/

(Though I noticed some are going independent front more recently).

Old land rovers and land cruisers are equally cool, hence they still use them in Africa almost exclusively. But the land rovers are better because they don’t use leaf rears!

I love rally cars and Dakar the multi axel Russian trucks. I love small pickups too.

…But lifted, full sized trucks are so boring. They’re literally everywhere in this part of Texas, to the point where they advertise mass conversion shops on billboards. They’re usually macho assholes on the road, and even stock-ish ones tend to be customized and slob into parking spaces or stick out of places.

I loathe them. I couldnt care less about them. Hence, I know what older RAM 1500s look like, but I don’t really keep up with the style changes for the RAMs/Chevys/Toyotas or whatever, other than observing how ridiculously big and tall their front grills have gotten.

…Hence this one threw me off. The grill is tiny! It makes it look small, when in reality the owner/shop likely ripped it out for that front skid plate (which looks way better).

Desert offloading is a popular thing in the US southwest. I’d do it as much as I could if I lived there, and had a truck like that.

To be clear, unlike most lifted trucks, I’m just saying it has a plausible use. You could be right.

        Yeah…

I hardly ever see Rangers in Texas, to the point I actually point them out like a rare car. But a ton of the traffic is full sized pickups.
