I mean, you don’t have your money, you bank does.

Just change some numbers and “thank you for paying you taxes, a additional 50% tip has been automatically applied”

Almost all taxes are collected from the paycheck before you even get your hands on it. The filing is mostly for the tax return on the overpayment. They’ve already thought of it. How you gonna stop paying?

My 1099 jobs I’m supposed to pay the taxes.

My W2 jobs, I just set allowances to like 20 so at least the bare minimum is being taken out.

Yeah… I thought about not paying taxes last April but I don’t want to draw unwanted attention to myself. Did the IRS have a bunch of people let go? Yes. Does that mean that they don’t have enough staff to realize I didn’t pay and come after me? Maybe I don’t want to find out. I’m self employed through my own LLC and I don’t know enough about taxes to do them on my own anymore and I have to pay someone to help me anyway, so the free software wouldn’t have helped much. Last April was the first time I had to do this, prior to that I’d been an employee at a company that withheld taxes.
