Slashing damage is different than piercing damage in the games I play. For whatever reason I ignored the context.

I think they determined that the virus that spread to humans was bats that transferred to something in the market (aka intermediate hosts). That virus would have spread there, while technically the bats could have infected humans.

I do recall that story. What I don’t get is why the intelligence agencies had any say in the likely origin. It’s not a factor of “if the virus was in a lab.” It could have been. The fact is that even back then when they had the virus sequenced, they could clearly see it came from a zoonotic source, probably the same one with SARS.

The thing that irked me so bad about it is that it highlights the discrepancy between science and suspicion. Think of how vital DNA has been to crime prosecutions or exonerations. The same thing applies here.

I don’t know what US media you were consuming in 2020/21, but it was pretty much understood it came from something exotic in a wet market.

Most of us didn’t know what a wet market existed or what it was until COVID. There was some conspiracy shit that the right ate up, and some editorial and opinions on the idea, but the whole bioengineered super virus escaping a lab wasn’t taken that seriously

We can call it state terror, but an attack of this scale is an outright attack by Israel on Lebanon, which is arguably worse. Terror attacks target indiscriminately, this was intended for combatants (yes, civilians died, that’s why it’s worse).

Think about pearl harbor vs 9/11. Pearl harbor was a state attack by Japan on the U.S. using horrific means against a naval base. 9/11 targeted the planes and buildings, regardless of who was in them

Also sort of shows the attack wasn’t too sophisticated. Mossad might not even have compromised the cell phones, they just fed bad intelligence to whoever and they had a likely supplier already compromised.

That being said, it makes me wonder if this went in any way according to plan - 8 deaths and 2750 injuries is a large scale attack, don’t get me wrong. But they’ve now announced Mossad has compromised the supplier of the pager, which they will undoubtedly audit, and instill new policies on device security. I wouldn’t be surprised if that means they discover a lot more compromised electronics, allowing Hezbollah to pinpoint the compromise. Because 2750 survived, you now have 2750 people very interested in finding it.

In all, for 8 deaths, they’ve made their own work harder.

That being said 2750 injuries could be a large enough number to scare members out of the org.
