No. Our politicians are too corrupt.
We could also have free medical, dental and universities also, but the miners don’t pay tax. Why? Oh that’s right… our politicians are corrupt.
I thought they only sold brown-colored sugar.
Was travelling in Europe recently.
Ended up having a chart with a couple from Norway, someone from the United States, and some others.
The couple from Norway were absolutely phenomenal to listen to.
In comparison, the young lady from the United States described how she was going to have a $350k student alone when she finishes studying. The table gasped in horror, and she justified it completely by saying it will be absolutely fine because she will easily earn six figures. Her life was over before it started, and we could all see it. She was absolutely defending it and thought it was totally fine.
However, the main part of this story is that the Norway couple looked at us, and he said directly, that Australia is the biggest crime, even more so than the American lady and her ridiculous university bill, because of the amount of minerals we have. In particular, that we don’t charge any tax.
Surprised me that Europeans know this about us, and it’s more than just embarrassing. Is the difference between the amazing lifestyle, and health benefits that the couple from Norway have, versus what we all face here.
We follow the United States lead, rather than the European lead. And it’s all fixable so quickly, and so easily. This is not some deep-rooted societal problem, this is just a corruption problem.
I’d like to enquire about the miners paying $0 tax and our elected officials getting sweet, sweet jobs with them after they leave public service.
How long will that enquiry take?
I started recently. I’m keen to finish it.
Mega man is SO hard. I struggle to get anywhere. But, that music. I LOVE it.
So enough to buy a few burgers, and afford one weeks camping by then. Thanks Paul.
Yeah… I’m in Dubrovnik right now, as a tourist, and this place is fucked.
I feel quite bad about it, and how amazing it must have been before all the tourists (myself included) came along.
It’s a crying shame, and I take your point.
This place, and so many like it have been destroyed by tourism.
My goodness. Are you me?
Have you considered starting a business?
I own one. Multi skilled is helpful there.
I believe Australia has business visas. Where you have to start a business and you have X time to make Y money. I’m light on details, but it might be worth a look
I disagree. It’s absolutely stunning.
That just cost us over $1 million in tax money. That’s our money wasted on lawyers.
Exactly. You just bailed them out.
Ahhhh, I see. Thank you
Maybe they read the BBC, and thought we’d be interested?
Is there a problem?
Not many accents I don’t like.
Love Russian, French, Turkish, French Canadian, Bosnian, Japanese, kiwi, Spanish, Taiwanese. Many more.
However… That full Australian nasal is just too much to bear. I’m Australian by the way.
I was in Turkey this week and an Aussie lady screached “TONY! TONY!!! THERE’S A SEAT UP HERE!!!” on a tour bus.
Half of the bus turned around in horror, to try and understand what just happened, and where that bizarre and horrible sound had come from.
Do you have skills? We all do in some way. What are yours?
Australian here. I just asked a handful of friends. Not a single person knew who he was.
They all knew Jacinta though.
Look at backblaze b2. Combined with restic over a scheduled bash script, it’s handled mine for many years now at a fair price
