Amazon has 3 for $33 sales a couple times a year. I just got Wicked (2024), F1 and Sinners in 4k for $11 each.

When 4K players cost $500 to get something considered “good but not great”… yeah no wonder no ones buying

Early 2000s to mid 2010s movies shot digitally? Sure. Film shot movies, especially on 35mm or larger, absolutely look better in 4k. Especially when they’ve been restored from the negative and converted to HDR for a 4k release.
There’s a lot of older movies out there where the UHD Blu Ray is the definitive version to own, looking significantly better than any prior version (and will likely never look better).

It’s well done…. Especially the end. Took me 3 days to get thru it, but the last 20 or so minutes were riveting

If I had done that, I would have never gotten the firmware update to enable VRR support on my HDMI 2.1 ports…

More tvs need to support G-Sync and Freesync (like my Hisense) instead of just supporting the HDMI version of VRR (like my Sony…).

Isn’t getting at protected content pretty trivial anyway? At least that’s my impression from how easy it is to find basically anything.

I have a DP to HDMI cable… it still won’t do HDMI 2.1. No 4k120 without DSC… no VRR…

I dunno. $1M sounds like a really small company….
First thing I thought of when i saw this post!

Did my upgrade back in April. Got 64GB for $240. Now I checked the price on the same kit… $700. Just crazy.

I’m confused. This image / gif is from Caddyshack. TBH, I haven’t seen Happy Gilmore, so I’m not certain what scene you could be thinking of from that one.
Damnit… it’s come full circle. Now I’m the dad, and saying the same thing to my 3yo when he turns the light on as he gets in his car seat.

Yeah, I’ll catch games OTA when they’re available, but I’m not paying for any additional streaming services just to pick up my team’s games, because of all the absurdity you mentioned in your previous post. If I care enough to watch, I’ll just find a free stream and keep the Adblock on.

And that’s why sites exist where you can stream all the games, regardless of location and blackouts… and they don’t cost a dime!

My wife is also a dental hygienist, and she has never once sent me any horrific shit…. So I don’t think that’s a trait necessarily tied to the occupation, lol

Well, OTA still works for ABC… and the only thing I’d want from ESPN is live sports, but there’s other options for that out there that don’t require a sub fee… so I don’t see the problem.
I want push my updates from volatile memory out to long term storage.
I always saw the O as output.
While the Joke is that that’s definitely not a tomato plant…
Apparently tomato’s can do something like this if you fertilize with the wrong formula (I.e. high nitrogen).
Tried growing some tomatoes myself for the first time this year… gave em the same fertilizer I was giving everything else, and they exploded with green growth into a giant bush, but never produced a single tomato. A few flowers would bloom, it’d get some small green ones, then they’d just fall right off the bush a day latter.
HDR, or Dolby Vision? From my research, anything less than the Panasonic UB820 either has missing features, or longevity issues.
Even still, 180 euro is well above the under $40 you can lots of DVD and even Standard Blu Ray
Personally, I grabbed a MakeMKV compatible UHD optical drive from eBay for $150, and just remux my discs to Plex… and then use CoreELEC on the Ugoos AM6B+ to ensure proper Dolby Vision and Lossless Audio support…. but I know that’s not exactly a mainstream option.
