Sure, that would indeed be a shame. But nobody is dependent on animal products unless there’s a medical reason.


If it’s dead, it’s dead. Whether you eat it or not, it won’t change anything. The purchase kills the animal, not the consumption.
It only makes an ecological difference if you convert the generated calories into energy.


But a great start to get into selfhosting. What’s an IP? What is a DNS? How do I connect to via ssh? What’s the job of DHCP? Pretty basic stuff, your learning in the process.


I would personally recommend starting with a Pi-hole. It’s easy to set up and provides an immediate improvement to your whole internet experience.
Try to follow the official guide or use a Docker container.


I’d rather buy handsoap for a few cents than moisturize my hands every time.


What if my network is open to everyone and someone pirates something using my IP? I would assume I’d be held accountable because I’m responsible for my network?


I really don’t know why someone is that stupid… People explain why he/she should take it offline, for obvious reasons… and he/she still think it’s a good idea and continue. Some people have to learn it the hard way…
