To people downvoting: are you also mad that Valve/Epic/PSN/etc have to follow GDPR data regulations for EU citizens and keep representatives there, or is sovereignty only bad when a non–first-world country dares to claim it?
Your prudery and moralism bores the hell out of me https://randomrantdispenser.neocities.org/rant04-2024-07-18

plot twist: it isn’t the same guy in every panel.

Countries do this way more often than you think… they have always done that with movies preventing official releases or releasing edited versions, and as for games tons have localized versions since ever, from censorship of nudity in Japanese games in the USA market to censorship of Nazi flags in games in Germany and even LGBT references in tons of Eastern countries. I’d love if piracy exploded because fuck them billion dollar companies, but they usually just change a few art assets and that’s it.
What type of content you fear your government may consider risky? Is someone there in a paranoia of video games causing violence?
Unless they would be banning stuff like GTA, Call of Duty and Battlefield entirely because of violence, I really doubt gamers would go out of their way in enough numbers to cause any ruckus just because they absolutely have to play the version of the game that has an LGBT flag in some building or certain character is transgender.

That’s a very common and very reasonable request, and given the size of Turkey, I don’t think they’d prefer to lose the whole market there instead of having a lawyer in the country to deal with local legal requests.
Only when it’s companies run by manchildren, like X and Rumble, they go on the internet to cry about censorship and shit when they pikachu-face-discover they have to follow a country’s laws to operate in that country.
ps: You are already not buying games when you pay for them on Steam.

You know that thing on video games that stuff is only rendered when the player is looking at it? A simulated universe could probably save a lot of energy by implementing something like that, like particles behaving like waves until observed.
A simulated universe would probably have some hard caps introduced to reduce computational needs, like some minimum temperature things can reach or max velocity.
Don’t worry, I understand you.

Amelia wasn’t AI-generated, she was literally goverment-generated for a stupid game saying you should mind your own business instead of watching and sharing content online or you can be arrested (people are just using AI to create more art with the character, but the character was created by the government). In the game the content was anti-immigration stuff and Amelia the girl trying to get the main character to get involved, so some dumbass just gave them a waifu lol
The game however basically tells you have to choose between being a racist or accepting 1984-surveillance (which UK is already doing anyway). Really great government propaganda.

I have no idea how it works, we have two main brands, Duosat and Azamerica, I found a fake Azamerica shop here https://azamerica-brasil.com/ you can see they have several models (the models are real, just the shop is a scam [the prices are way way off :P], as it’s illegal you need to find the right person to buy from on Whatsapp or Telegram). I used to be on the Duosat forum and they have a team working on hardware, software and the streaming, but they moved to a Telegram group some years ago and I never joined.

I found a video of a guy showing a model similar to mine, he shows the streaming (the UI is crap, but hey, it’s free lol)… watching the video I just remembered, you can also access a lot of random public cameras around the world, they should add the hacked Flocks to the list https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDfQoAtc9GM
It doesn’t show him exploring satellites though (he is just on the StarOne C2/C4 menu), although kinda useless to try satellites from other countries since the channels are going to be on a foreign language and there won’t be subtitles.

I don’t use IPTV though, you have to pay a monthly fee to use, I just bought a satellite decoder and I can get any channel from any satellite my dish can reach, and the groups that sell those give you free access to their private streaming they update constantly with new releases… I got mine in 2018 or 2019 I think, at the time IPTV was like BRL$20 a month and the decoder BRL$800

lol, that’s about the number of IPTV subscribers you’d find in a Brazilian city with 5k people :P

Very common in Brazil: Rosa, Margarida, Jasmim/Yasmin, Lívia, Íris.
ps: Margarida is Daisy and Lívia is Lily.

yes

About games hard to run, back on Win7 I couldn’t get Dark Colony installer to run with any compatibility mode (luckily, you can run the game just by copying the files from the CD). StarCraft had some graphics issue but just on menus (I think on Win10 as well), and I couldn’t play Outwars at all (although GOG version has some fix for modern Windows). A GOG game I bought that I couldn’t run on modern windows was Slave Zero.

Jagged Alliance, Commandos, Fallout :)
ps: no idea how original versions are hard to run nowadays, even though I have JA and FO CDs, it’s been like 10 years since I last had a CD drive, I just bought them again on GOG :P
In one of the tests my cousin, with very Latina facial features, took in the USA, she was asked how many generations of her family had a college degree, and she said four. They took her to another room to ask if she understood the question.
That’s awesome!
MobyGames is a collective database active since 1999. Years ago I was looking for a “letterboxd for games” and others like backloggd and rawg were missing a lot of stuff and had poor info about releases and so (I never checked again, so they might be better now). At the time MobyGames seemed like the best one, there is a lot of very obscure releases there, but I don’t know if other databases are more complete.
There were also a lot of collection packs in the middle but I was too lazy to count and exclude them :P
But even if they released just roms instead of physical media, wouldn’t you still be able to play on the actual hardware using Everdrive or something?
Yep, hate when I want to follow some project and they link you to X, Reddit and Discord lol
