Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something you were told you'd regret in the future, but you still don't regret at all?
2·3 hours agoWere you homeschooled? That’s the only way I can imagine a kid could escape homework, because traditional shitty schools require homework. Because schools’ objective is to make children miserable & accustomize them to the agonizing relentless pressures of responsibility. I’m sincerely happy for you that you broke free from that bullshit & found true enjoyment in childhood, while traditional shitty schools rob children of their childhood joy 😥

41·4 hours agoNever trying alcohol or drugs or cigarettes or gambling. My whole life I’ve had a strong intuitive sense to avoid all that stuff, and I’ve never even had the slightest desire. When I was in the army my colleagues would tease me that eventually some day I would crack and give in to the dark side, but nah.
In 2023-2024 I had a job where I quickly became aware that I was working much harder than they were paying me and I started to track every dollar against my efforts, becoming increasingly aware & bitter that 37% of my time there I was breaking my body as an unpaid volunteer because that’s how much the govt was deducting from my paychecks. And the net pay I was left with was not enough to survive. So glad I escaped & found a slightly better situation.
Aw, I should call my kids & see how they’re doing 🥲
I try not to be an annoying mother and I let them live their lives, but maybe they feel like I’m neglecting them? I don’t know.
Thank you, well at least it got me into excellent physical shape & I got a boyfriend out of it, though he turned out to be kinda toxic but he was a bit of companionship & security for 6 years until I finally escaped & ascended to my own best life.

1·1 day agoSo as a consequence of those awful predatory student loans, you can’t buy a house or finance a car or get approved for an apartment or loan?

2·1 day agoWe’re not wimps, weaklings, or cowards. We’re simply not allowed to walk up to Trump’s house, knock on his door, tell him everything he’s doing is atrocious, and tell him to stop it, and we’re not allowed to do all the other illegal things we wish we could do to him either. We’d end up in prison or dead. If anyone decides to do any of that, he’d be a heroic Luigi, but Luigi is rotting away in prison now. And/or we need a large scale united front uprising. We must study ants and learn from them how to unite a million people to accomplish one big task together.
Their drooling is as convincing as someone fake crying.
Fun! Now do one about doctors who dress like Jesus.

4·2 days agoTrue but it’s impossible to default on FAFSA loans. That stuff hangs over people until it’s paid or until they die.

7·2 days agoHonestly a lot of education doesn’t stick either way. Repetition and living the lessons is what really makes learning stick.

It’s hard to tell the difference between a joke or an autocorrect typo these days
I once had a 22 Mile round trip bicycle commute and there were absolutely no buses or trains or any type of public transport available from point A to point b. I finally had to quit that job in the thick of winter when snow made bicycling impossible, but before I quit, I got there walking/ running for a couple months.

I agree. I don’t wanna get prego either.
