It’s really not that deep.
It’s really not that deep.
My bad. I didn’t even read the title, just saw the picture. lol
“… Maybe you steal her underwear a couple times…” No Ben. No we don’t.
Regardless of it being the fake, the fact that so many (including me) thought it was real speaks volumes.
What’s that quote? History is written by the winners. Yeah, something like that. Not to say the alternative would have been better, but bad historians will always leave out the worst parts of a country’s history.
I wouldn’t quite go so far as to say it’s gone “mainstream” since you still have to be moderately nerdy to know about it. I get your point though. This is one of the reasons I am so happy the Steam Deck exists. Before Valve released the Steam Deck nobody wanted to make games for Linux, so Valve said “fuck it, we’ll do it ourselves” and proved it was not only possible, but a better experience overall. While not all games work, having 78-80% of your game library work on Linux, with no Windows OS performance tax, is a great experience. Even with the Proton compatibility layer games generally run faster than on Windows.
They are on all social media platforms.
Can we stop calling these glorified chat bots “AI” now?
Why would Windows users be crying. Most users have ambivalence/hate relationship with it.
It’s too late for some of the Linux Lemmys. lol
I mean current version really doesn’t mean anything because people aren’t going to upgrade if the version they’re using is fine. I submit that this is a perfect example of correlation != causation. I may have gotten the order wrong on the not equal symbology since I haven’t used it in a while.
Also, are we talking Linux kernal versions? There are so many problems with this comparison.
No Messiah of mine shits their pants on the set of a reality TV show.
I mean, and this is all alleged mind you, Biden could use the threat to American democracy to assassinate Trump and there are many people who would be okay with that since Trump IS a threat to democracy.
Not to be that guy, but this is actually the most useless advice ever for someone who genuinely has a computer problem. Like, I like Linux as much as the next person, but asking someone to learn a whole ass OS from scratch on the OFF CHANCE it will fix their issue is not great.
This is probably the only time I will agree with the “both sides” take on this. My view on this is that it doesn’t mean I agree with killing innocents though. People at the top doing terrible things is no reason to condemn a whole people who very likely had little say in the matter.
Yeah just a bunch of Linux nerds on their high horse feeling smug. This attitude actively pushes people away from your platform, not towards it. If you want more people to use Linux the first step is NOT acting like a smug dick about it.
What a shame.
Mine screams outside the door if I close it.
The funny part about this story is that, while everyone has their “price”, most of the people building these instances did so because they want nothing to do with these corporations.
Now admittedly things can change, but these corporations also don’t seem to understand how these insurances work. Buying one instances, while shitty and something that hopefully won’t happen, isn’t the same as buying a company. You can’t “own” the Fediverse because of the nature of what it is.
I don’t know about relatable, but it does speak to Ben’s personality that so many people thought this was real.
