WTF this is even stupider that I thought. This is “Citizens United”?
As a Hungarian citizen, so do I!
Pls send help
Ok, let me expand on that. Drivers in Hungary tend to be more attentive and in control of their vehicles, but also more aggressive than in Western Europe is what I mean.
Not “thousands”, hundreds of thousands. Biggest Pride in Budapest ever, by far. And a lot of people joined exactly because of the ban.
Local media even found a guy with full on nationalist getup marching who said “on a normal day IDGAF about gays, but today I’m here in solidarity since if they can ban Pride they can ban anything”.
Most drivers are good at driving, terrible at being good people. So it’s not like you get cut off a lot, and there is less texting and driving than in other places, but there are more people road raging. I’ve seen someone getting brake checked by police, and I’ve also seen someone brake checking police.
Traffic jams happen, but it’s not LA level. The roads are terrible though. The motorway that this thing is on is notoriously unsafe because it has much tighter turns that it should have, and it’s rated 110 kmh rather than 130 as a result, and that is still too fast.
There is a segment of highway near Budapest where cops often hang out on an overpass with a speed camera. Teslas do a light phantom brake under that overpass, like going from speed limit to 80% speed limit, because apparently the car learned that that’s what it should do there.
I wouldn’t have believed it’s that stupid, but there is a whole discussion on local owner groups about that specific spot, and I’ve also seen it first hand from the passenger seat.
Reason I don’t move to the US despite “the wages are better” #321. I never had to deal with this. If I was the person in the car, I would have just sent an email to Consumer Protection, and they would have dragged the dealer to arbitration. BTW arbitration here doesn’t mean “court-but-paid-by-the-company”, that’s illegal, it’s just that they try to cut through this exact bullshit without going to court and incurring fees. If the company representative does not show up, it’s grounds for a quick judgement against the company at court afterwards, and the authority also reviews if the company should even have a business licence if this keeps happening.
The place was a part of my early youth, I was sad to see it go.
The original route would have been a different bridge, the police diverted them here because of a 30 people strong nazi counterprotest.
The organisers turned down the music during the passing to avoid the crowd marching to the beat.
AFAIK it was part of a larger restoration of the whole building complex (this is the Budapest Nyugati railway station), and the global redesign of McDonalds. They justified it by saying that the architecture is closer to the original - the lower level only became part of it when they built the McDonalds in 1990, before that it was a separate diner for the poors in third class. The furniture is default McDonalds.
The overall restoration on the building at large is not bad per se, but they basically destroyed a symbol of the Hungarian 90s - 00s. This was the place where if you lived in Budapest and got wasted, you could get some nutrition in the city center, and it wasn’t full of tourists because they didn’t think that the railway station buffet was so good.
BTW the local franchisee is trying to cater more to a “fast casual” crowd rather than the bare minimum, so a McDonalds in Hungary has a menu three times as long as one in the Netherlands for example. All I’m saying is that it was a nice place considering. Sic transit gloria mundi I guess.
We used to have the only McDonald’s (that I know of) that was in a building designed by Eiffel.
They “modernised” it last year.
Ten years and counting here, fuck if anyone knows at this point. My personal (maybe a bit cynical) take is that it really doesn’t matter as the amount of coding skill you use maxes out in the first few years of your career (for 90% of us anyhow), after that cat herding skills and pragmatic system architecture is what’s important. It becomes more important to know what not to do rather than the opposite.
So it doesn’t really matter how fast you are at leetcode if you can navigate the particular brand of spaghetti your workplace is cooking, plus points if you are able and willing to grok new kinds so you can hop jobs because raises are so last century.
Yeah, unlike an outsourcing outfit an AI company won’t take the fall when given shit requirement and shit pay they deliver shit work.
The EU already has this, but I wonder how many places are breaking the law
I guess TikTok as the watermark says

…what? I thought it’s a fetish thing exclusively.
I feel like AI fucked up the job market, but not in the “AI took you jobs” way, but I’ve read at least one article where a staffing company was bombarding everyone with low-quality AI spam applications to convince companies they can’t find anyone good and they need staffing companies. Same thing on the other side, lots of AI filtering on job applications, and also companies sometimes leave job ads up even if not hiring to “keep tabs on the market” and have HR departments keep doing something during hiring freezes.
Even if they weren’t, they don’t represent all the people at the protest.
Yeah, this is some SS level shit. Or more accurately, Trump wants his own Rosgvardiya.
