Yeah, e.g. I stopped paying attention to spider man movies for a few years, but the other day I was doing a recap and found that there is a movie with actors/characters from 3 different versions/reboots with the multiverse excuse…this is some dystopian shit.

I know that comics always had heavy intertext and “guest characters”, but having the scriptwriting be driven by stupid circumstantial corporate decisions to buy IP rights to a specific character and then have to restart it multiple times to keep the rights going feels…dystopian?

(but I’ll be thankful if you have any better words than dystopian to describe this bullshit, gpt suggests “soulless” 🙃).

That’s fine in theory, until the party starts calling everything it sees as a potential opposition or threat to itself and any attempts to adapt to the times “burgeois”.

Until you guys create a clear set of rules to permit gradual evolution, dissenting voices, protecting the rights of the individual and political opposition, while preventing things like cult of personality, nobody is getting on that ride again.

(oh wait, there is another ride like that but for the nation instead of the proletariat, it’s called fascism…and everybody is getting on it…again)

Movies in the '90s were more varied, but then after 9/11 and the “war on terror” it seems that there was an intentional focus on superheroes fighting the bad guys, don’t know about the '80s.

If everyone gets tested yearly until they die, this could total as much as most cancer treatments and suffering combined and it would probably still be better for everyone if nobody has to go through that anymore.

So what do mothers do in the US? Do they take leave, unpaid; do they get fired or leave their jobs; do they get a nanny/childcare and show up for work after giving birth like it was just a cold? (Or maybe some are just stay at home moms)
