My conspiracy theory is that AI companies want into the government not just for the money (which would be huge) but to also protect them when the bubble bursts and they all get bailed out because they are now to big to fail and too integrated into the government.

As much as I wish this to be the case - there are too many con-men/women that have seen what trump has done and how much money he as stolen from taxpayers that there will now always be some crazy ass candidate that will try to anger up the stupids to vote for them.

I agree with this - I think that professional jurors should have a an Associates degree in criminal justice and/or paralegal. They should get paid a fair wage. They should have to travel so as to not become too cozy with prosecutors/defense lawyers and judges. You could have jurors that are a specialist in different types of crime which would make the lawyers have to work harder since they couldn’t just overwhelm the uneducated (in that area of the law). As you said it would get people that are wanting to participate to be part of it as well

The Treasury could have bought up mortgage notes instead, at pennies on the dollar, and started collecting interest on the debt just like the private banks had. Then they could have renegotiated mortgages of underwater homes at lower interest rates, while the private sector lenders filed for bankruptcy. That would have drastically reduced the foreclosure rate and dumped the material cost of the financial crisis on stock and bond holders of these private companies.

I’m curious how this action would have changed the last 20 years of politics? Those in power during that time did a shit job of really explaining why the banks got the money and not the homeowner. I think this really exposed who the federal politicians were representing, and it wasn’t the everyday voters. I think that anger and sense of betrayal that the American people were told to “kick rocks.” while the actual criminals got a bailout of our money still sits in with of most of the population.

This is just one of many, many pieces of technology that have been just put into public from tech companies whether we like it or now. And they do it because they know there is no regulation, nor will there be anytime soon to reign it in.

This is shit, yet their banning people has always been inconsistent and unpredictable without knowing why. I got banned 3 years ago with absolutely no explanation why - just “your banned”. When I did the auto-appeal I just got a response “sorry, your banned.” Never a word as to why so fuck Reddit.

It’s almost like governments of all sizes have been captured by companies and now protect them against the evil consumer which is completely backwards to what governmental organizations were originally created for.

The problem with roundabouts in the States is that a large percentage of drivers were never taught how to navigate a roundabout we were just given them with an implied “you’ll figure it out.”

We have the money and the power to force this technology in to the mainstream. Tech companies know that Congress is way too old, way too corrupt, and way too slow to really do anything about regulating stuff like this in a reasonable time frame. They have no real barriers and the heads of these companies don’t give a shit about the user as long as they pay their monthly subscription.
