341·5 days agoI’ve disconnected the doorbell at every place I’ve lived in the last 10 years. If I’m expecting you I’ll be waiting and opening the door for you, everyone else can leave a message or find a different way to contact me
I had a professor who never moved on from his hipster phase. Every once in a while he’d switch it up and wear tech bro sports jackets and graphic tees, like he was trying to branch out but he was more comfy with what he cultivated on his twenties and thirties lol

News@lemmy.world•Charlie Kirk shooting suspect seeks to disqualify Utah County Attorney's Office from case
3·11 days agoI have sometimes wondered if the shooter heard what Kirk was saying when he took the shot
Wow. I listened to this album on repeat endlessly in the aughts. Never thought I’d be struggling to remember who made it, because this band used to be in my top five favorites
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a furry. But I am absolutely not one. My username refers to an episode of Deep Space Nine
I don’t understand the rest of your comment
I think they were talking about the controversial vaccines like the anthrax vaccine, which is one I received while in boot camp
He’s looking at her hair, instead of meeting her eyes. I’m an eyeball avoider myself, but that’s usually not a good idea when trying to make a good first impression lol

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•DHS Says DHS-Certified Real IDs Too Unreliable to Confirm U.S. CitizenshipEnglish
382·26 days agoI lost my real ID and had to replace it last month. I brought my passport, assuming that was good enough to prove who I am, and the dmv website said that is an acceptable document.
They wouldn’t accept my fucking passport as proof of citizenship or anything else at the counter. This is after scanning my face to make sure it matched the photo on my lost ID lmao. I had to do the Karen thing and ask for a manager

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Someone parked in "my spot" today
3·27 days agoI can do that today when I talk to management about something else. I doubt they’ll do anything, they’d have to tear out some curb to make it accessible. Guests aren’t actually allowed to park on the property, but that isn’t something that should apply to people with mobility problems

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Someone parked in "my spot" today
10·28 days agoOne of my neighbors has a disabled parent that baby sits for them. I get so fucking annoyed when they’ve managed to park in “my” disabled parking spot if I go out for an errand. It’s stupid, and I feel like an asshole for feeling annoyed. There are two disabled spots for my building (roughly 48 units), and I would rather push my walker across the whole complex than park in the other spot, because it “belongs” to another neighbor who has less mobility than I do. We don’t have assigned parking and I kinda hate it lol

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I cannot understand what dose of vitamin D I should take
2·1 month agoI think that you should talk to your doctor about your concerns. My doctor prescribed a UVB light that I use for a short period every day and it seems to be helping quite a lot with my muscle pain and vitamin D levels

News@lemmy.world•Trump administration bans abortion care for veterans
5·1 month agoThe other reason for the surgery was actually to look for reasons I’m in pain, like adhesions or other evidence of endometriosis. I have nexplanon and haven’t had a period in several years, yet still have cyclical intense pain
My ob ordered an mri after we learned the surgery was canceled, maybe that will give us the evidence we need to move forward with surgery again

49·1 month agoA lot of us using VA Healthcare get disability compensation. Do you know how much more the VA pays if you go from 0 children to one on 100%? Less than $100/mo
I was scheduled to be surgically sterilized in two weeks, because I was afraid of exactly this direction after the VA secretary issued a statement saying single women could be refused treatment by VA doctors. The VA canceled my surgery 🙃

9·1 month agoBandcamp is what my bands like to use. They often have events (Bandcamp Fridays) where 100% of purchases go to the artists. Some bands also make decent money off merch sales from their own storefronts

2111·1 month agoSince day one, we have stood with the artist community against piracy, and we are actively working with our industry partners to protect creators and defend their rights.
Lmao. They protect and defend artist rights so hard they they’ve refused to pay a fair compensation, and have taken it further by promoting AI artists over actual artists. This statement is almost comical after it was reported that they’ve had copy cats to replace King Glizard and the Lizard Wizard when they pulled their albums from Spotify

News@lemmy.world•The FDA Often Doesn’t Test Generic Drugs for Quality Concerns, So ProPublica Did
19·1 month agoWhile most of the samples passed, the findings showed that one version of bupropion and one version of metoprolol, dispensed at least tens of thousands of times in 2024 alone, had irregularities that experts say could compromise their effectiveness.
They found some pills dissolved slower, reducing the amount of medication available in the body. These were from Indian factories that previously failed quality testing but have since been allowed to sell to the US again.
Edit: propublica only tested three medications from 11 people. It’s a very small sample size, but considering the historical quality control issues its worth a larger analysis

My grandmother fully believed in sasquatch as a species, with subspecies in various environments. The ones where she grew up in the northeast were apparently larger, less hairy and more fat than the ones in the swamps where I grew up. To this day I still think she had just seen hunters, but she knew what she saw lol
