I actually like censored swear words in written text. At least when they are censored enough that you can’t tell what the swearword is, but you know the intention behind it.
Deliberate misspellings are obnoxious though

They are loud. And not really that much better than a broom and a rake

Yes. My thoughts and feelings matter. But if it’s simulated with a few shortcuts, your thoughts and feelings might not exist.
Maybe all other humans are only about as well-simulated as current LLMs.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be more complex, if it is infinite.
Just like there are exactly as many rational numbers between 0 and 1 as there are in total. The same works for real numbers.
We don’t know if our universe is infinite. There is reason to believe that spacetime might be discrete. And we don’t know if the universe is infinite, or if the observable universe is all there is, and we just happen to be approximately in the middle of it.
But if the universe is dense, and if the technology was advanced enough, simulating an equally complex should be possible.
The programmers of that simulation could be cheating a bit. For example, they could approximate the movement of particles by using wave fields, and only if the particles are observed, would it actually simulate individual particles.
It would cause some weird effects that shouldn’t be there. For example a light spot in the middle of circular shadows. But most players don’t want 100% perfection. They want to be able to run the game on their device.

2·28 days agoUniversal healthcare providers sometimes choose to cover drugs or treatments that have slightly worse outcomes instead. The treatment that was state of the art 10 years ago probably still works just fine.
Patents last 20 years. But most of that time, a drug is in trials.
Providers can also choose not to cover other drugs by the same company, if they refuse to budge. Not being able to sell any drugs across an entire country would be a big problem for companies.

4·28 days agoJust because it’s frozen and made in a factory doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s unhealthy.
Vitamin C is pretty much the only nutrient that gets degraded by freezing and storage. Usually the problem is that the nutrients weren’t in there to begin with.
Having a look at the ingredients is really worth it. Of course that is a lot more difficult in a restaurant compared to a grocery store. Thanks to regulations.

37·28 days agoConsidering that I am struggling not to loose weight, I don’t mind a lot of calories.
When I make baked potatoes at home I usually use 2 of the biggest potatoes I can find. Per person that is. Then I use Quark with 40% fat, mix in some cream, at least a teaspoon of salt, green onion and some frozen herbs.
I don’t think restaurants make it any less healthily.
Your point about using oil instead of butter is valid enough. Rapeseed oil has a lot of alpha-linolenic acid. Butter a lot of saturated fatty acids. But oil is the cheaper ingredient. Butter is important to archive the traditional tase. If restaurants use butter I won’t hold it against them.
For dishes where you can choose your own carb-rich sides I would appreciate some whole-grain options though. For example cooked spelt. It pairs wonderfully with many traditional German dishes. Far-eastern and Indian restaurants could offer whole grain rice.
White grain is the worst offender when in comes to empty calories. Saturated fats at least still fill you up as much as unsaturated fats. You need twice as much white grain to feel as full as you would with whole grain. And you’ll be hungry an hour later.

I believe most don’t officially
