Hashtags in Mastodon is what allows discoverability to posts. So if you wanna make your posts indexable you’ll need them.
Mastodon doesn’t index by words, just only by hashtags.

So if you make a post about cats, but you don’t add the hashtag “cats” your post is like it wasn’t post at all. No one can see it, besides yourself and your followers. Also I don’t get why people all it spam, if it goes at the end. Easy to ignore.

Piece of advice boys. When you make posts on Lemmy/Kbin put at the end of it some #hashtags related to the post’s topic. So it can be indexable for Mastodon and Pixelfed users.
I as a Mastodon user can see posts from Pixelfed users due to their diligence of using hashtags.

This is something easy that can improve post discoverability and also you’ll get more user interaction.

For example: I can create new posts on Lemmy/Kbin, but those posts can be only text. I still haven’t figured out how to post images.

@Atemu This is why, for me, Firefox is unreplaceable on Android. Just the fact that’s not Chromium + also supports extensions is what makes it superior.
I wish that it’ll come pre-installed in phones instead of Chrome, so more people can give it a try. But is Android and Google would never allow that.

@interolivary Again their products are reliable. I’m still using some Logitech X-540 on my desktop PC and they still sound incredible.
Now when you move to devices that require software like mice and keyboards, there’s not gaming brand that does that good or even “acceptable”.
Even the Xbox controller had an issue in Steam were it used to fulfill your hard drive with screenshots. Microsoft had to release a driver update.
Again gaming devices have lots of software issues.

@interolivary Logitech build quality was never a problem. The problem with Logitech, and most of the gaming brands, is their software which is utterly shit.

That Logitech F710 have never received a firmware update or even a driver update.
I’ve had some Logitech mice and keyboards is always the same story. They trend to work better without their software than with the “Logitech G suite” installed.

Same applies to Corsair, NZXT, Razer, Asus (Armory Crate) and many more.

I’ve seen many people get lost at simple things like setting up a Roku or even making a document in Google Docs, when they were so used to use Microsoft Word.

People hate a hard setting up process in everything, even if they have to do it just once.

@McBinary What you’re describing is one of the issues with the entire fediverse and it is the on boarding process.

A centralized social network just makes you go to Facebook (dot) com, then put your mail and password. Done!

But the fediverse isn’t easier. People not only need to learn their username and password, also need to learn their server’s name. Why? Because isn’t the same to try to log in in lemmy.xyz than log in on lemmy.zyx

That makes non technical users get lost.

@Deralax I feel that’s more related with platform addiction. Since COVID 19 Reddit became more a news stand.
Look at r/popular 11 of each 10 posts are news related and not like a generic piece of news. Feels that they’re perfectly selected to create toxic comments which at the same time droves people to look for more toxic news.

Reddit is a platform designed about being toxic and addictive while Lemmy/Kbin are designed as a way to connect with people that shares your same interests.

Probably if Brunofin has copyright issues due to is a common word, he could also try with Lemour.
