  • There’s plenty of value in the base idea, I think. People deserve real vacations and there’s no reason hotel chains and cabin rental agencies should be the only games in town.

The problem starts when you start running your cabin rental agency through AirBnB and pretending guests should pay the same rates while doing all the housekeeping.

I definitely don’t agree that an entitled luxury service seller can be as bad as someone driving up the cost of necessities while providing nothing at all

  • The major criticism I have right off the bat is the body isn’t actually painted and as a result their “optional” wraps actually aren’t optional if you don’t want to risk having to replace the whole damn body in a few years.

You can also get a UV coating applied every year or so, I believe, just be aware that in order to save themselves a little bit of sticker price and to sell their wraps they’ve locked you into a significant ongoing maintenance cost in either coatings or wrap replacements.

So of course now your “environmentally friendly” EV is shedding its plastic skin every three years. From Slate’s quoting on the wrap price the wrap replacement does seem fairly affordable though (assuming that’s not early incentive pricing), just be aware the lifetime maintenance is going to be higher than you’re used to.

There’s a very large part of me that wonders if the entire goal of this is to solve the EV manufacturing dilemma of not having as much recurring revenue from replacement engine parts.

  • Because infinite possibilities does not include impossible events.

Imagine an infinitely long track. We will pretend, for the moment, that this represents whatever makes you “you” and that the track doesnt end like literally everything in creation.

You were placed on it by a unique set of circumstances including time, place, and genetics, but you will never be able to leave the track. That would, metaphorically, represent a life event like you flapping your arms hard enough to fly. It simply will not happen, no matter how long you travel down the track, because you are bound by the limits of the track (physical reality)

You still have an infinite amount of area to explore. Just not outside of what is possible.

  • Caesar claimed the Germanic tribes didn’t have personified gods in his day and worshipped naturalized concepts (the Sun, Fire, etc). He’s also famous for lying about these things though, and it’s very possible he’s speaking of “Germanic” tribes that simply had a lot of Celtic influence that he recognized from his, you know, genocide of Gaul.

Tacitus said otherwise 150 years later but their names were far different than what we’d recognize and it’s hard to tell if they’re even the same figures.

Point is, it’s definitely the other way around considering the oldest mention of “Hel” actually comes from the 9th century.
