Huh I never type in portrait if I can help it, my thumbs are way too big for it. Landscape any time I’m typing and even then I wish I could make the keyboard bigger without losing visibility to what I’m typing/replying to. I also don’t swipe type, have never really liked it.

Well…I suspect a lot of the people who routinely complain about this stuff actually are teenagers.

There’s a bug dating back to October that made Heliboard unusable for me, because it cuts off half of the keyboard in landscape. Looks like it just got fixed but hasn’t been rolled out yet. Meanwhile heliboard is just really bad about learning new words (tends to think capitalized words are a different word and adds them to the dictionary when you start a sentence with them, can’t seem to handle autocorrecting to a word with an apostrophe). I gave up on it and went back to Gboard and I don’t think I’m going back. Honestly I’m real frustrated with the state of android keyboards right now. Swiftkey used to be awesome but MS ruined it. Gboard is better than it used to be but it barely has an options for customizing it. I don’t know anything better.

Not sure I understand why you would want that. But more options for gboard would always be good.

Fun fact, you can do a light rubbing/knocking on a tree trunk to coax a screech owl into showing itself.

I’m a little unclear on what point the author is trying to make but perhaps that’s because I’m not familiar with this comic.

Edit: tbh I think I agree with the sentiment that this is just a shit comic. If there’s any worthwhile message it’s very poorly expressed.

Obviously not always an option to use an oven/stove if you are e.g. bringing a packed lunch into a typical office. It’s certainly a better option for some things (you will never get “crispy” from a microwave, period) but microwave still produces acceptable results for many things, particularly if you are willing to put some thought and care into how you use it.

Never for reheating leftovers, anyway, which is 99% of what I use a microwave for. I have a kettle for other stuff. Overly high heat is gonna turn your proteins into rubber and exaggerate the “flaming hot on the outside, still cold in the middle” effect. There’s also lots of other stuff like arranging things to avoid dead spots, making use of coverings to trap steam, not throwing your vegetables that will take a minute to warm up in at the beginning with the big hunk of pasta that’s gonna need several minutes to heat through, etc.

But yeah if you’re reheating your food on >50% power you are almost definitely making it turn out worse than it would be on lower power.

Well, “confirmed” probably involves a trial. And I’m assuming the majority of these people are dead by now.

Never over 50% power. I’m always shocked by how many people don’t know how to use a microwave. I usually worked a long time on my food, I don’t want to ruin it through lazy reheating.

Hopefully doesn’t really need said but hitting someone in the head with a bat could result in charges all the way up to murder, so you probably don’t want to do that.
