The most annoying part of that is that cats and dogs both eat meat! He thinks there are more cats and dogs than the chickens and cows (etc) we feed them? What demented food web did they teach him in elementary school biology?

Unfortunately it was on his face, so his thick fucking skull broke his fall.

That’s fair, sorry if my earlier reply was too flippant. It’s just very frustrating to see people (not you specifically, but others in the thread) defending it as not classist at all, or classism that’s okay because it’s aimed at shitty people. I think a lot of the comments I see on the fediverse aren’t doing it intentionally, but seem to have the mentality that people who are living or have lived in poverty aren’t also here and participating.

Let’s ignore that low income people are more likely to vote for Democrats, or the underlying classism inherent in using the size and value of someone’s home when it comes to determining if their arguments are worth listening to. Somewhere there’s a guy like that, so let’s just make him the symbol of all of them!
Minus the political signs, this looked pretty similar to my childhood home. Regardless of what OP intended, how do you think it feels for people who actually did grow up in an old trailer to see stuff like this?

Better work than some bus drivers I’ve encountered!

But being poor is how you know they’re wrong! 😑

Oxford sells abridged dictionaries for under $10. 99% of people aren’t using it for 20 encyclopedias worth of etymological research, they’re using it to figure out how to spell a word or what it means.

They aren’t under any obligation to provide the fruit of their labour free of charge.
Maybe the £8.7 billion endowment university that employs them should make sure they’re adequately compensated for their work, and not people who want to know how to spell a word.

The most offensive part is the monthly price point. What goo between the ears business idiot convinced these people they could charge more than a Netflix (+ ads) subscription for the dictionary? You could literally buy a brand new one and set it on fire every month for that cost. Fucking leeches.

I’m glad that’s a financial option for you

I’ll take it the way I took his stupid ass signed pandemic check. It’s not gonna make me hate the fucker any less, and I’m not stupid enough to think the amount of money the average person has lost on these fucking tariffs is less than $2000. So yeah, pay me to keep the same opinion of you and your policies, shithead.

Plastics made from petroleum aren’t the same thing as heated up vegetable oil.

If the sandwich did not split, you must acquit!

Oh my god, a red apple?? This is terrifying! I’ve never even imagined such a horrific freak of nature! Everyone panic!

Did I miss a part of the article that linked voting for Trump and being on SNAP? Or are we just taking a moment to teabag the poor, disabled, and elderly because they live in the US?

Thank you, Hari Seldon, very cool 👍

The only other thing I’ve found that helped was under Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Reduce Transparency, the nausea-inducing design decisions really are baffling

If you haven’t tried yet, for your iPad try going Settings -> Accessibility-> Motion, and enable Reduce Motion and Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions. Both helped me, because I hated the blur effects too.

Some people prefer to not cede entire states to fascists.
It’s normal for LA to get less than 18” of rain in an entire year. The ground is harder to saturate when it’s been dry so long, which makes flooding more likely. And along the LA River we have a godawful concrete channel that doesn’t let any water get absorbed once it hits the culvert. Combine that with rain for the next week (up to 6” possible in some areas) and really big recent (<2 years) burn areas, we might also be getting mudslides on top of everything else.
