Just like “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” (a literally impossible task), the original expression was “a few bad apples spoil the bunch”. In other words, rot spreads and all the good apples become bad apples by proximity.

National leader in this context doesn’t mean president. It just means somebody with clout that people listen to, and can focus public attention on specific issues.

We don’t want him. We have enough problems with our own fascists.

Which US politician has been attempting to woo voters on the left, in your opinion?

Or, more realistically, hijacking the Democratic party and dragging it kicking and screaming towards the left.

The problem is that worldwide this is not a time for centrism. Promising “nothing will fundamentally change” is a great way to immediately lose an election.
That isn’t how I read this at all. My immediate understanding was “Israel is doing settler-colonialism, people rightfully are against it. China is doing settler-colonialism, nobody seems to care”.
Now you’re thinking with angles!

Not the only time. Another example is the West Africa Squadron, where a small part of the British Navy tried to block all slave traffic coming out of West Africa.
The UK has done some insanely horrific things, but it does have some legitimate bright spots in there.

Shh, no spoilers. He obviously hasn’t gotten to that part yet.

Late response, but anyways: the big advantage over regular bank transfers is you can use it like a virtual card without Visa or Mastercard. In essence, the biggest draw is pushing US companies out of the EU financial system.

This is even dumber when you consider we’re ~2 years away from the launch of the Digital Euro. As easy and fast to transfer as a cryptocoin with none of the drawbacks. No Blockchain nonsense, backed by banks, transactions can be cancelled and refunded just like any digital transaction, and standardized to all EU banks.

Wouldn’t be the first time a government banned a number

Like sysiphus, we must continue pushing up the hill, forever. There is no final victory. If you’re tired, trust in others to continue pushing, very understandable. Just don’t piss on the people continuing where you left off.

That was for tabling the vote, actual vote is happening on the 14th of October
I have absolutely no faith in the vast majority of our Romanian MEPs. The few decent ones have already confirmed they’re opposing, the rest will abstain if they don’t personally get any kickbacks, and vote for if so.
Aaargh! Grug make mouth-noise, and now da air is all wobbly. Eerz hert from da wibble wobble air, it wobble too fast!
In most EU countries, if there really is a blowup over the budget (much rarer than the US), the old budget remains in place until a new one is negotiated.
